Introducing the world's first zoom lens for APS-C digital SLRs with 8mm focal length. The Sigma 8-16mm f4-5.6 DC lens gives the equivalent focal length of a 12-24mm lens added to a 35mm SLR camera. The use of special glasses and advanced coatings makes this lens possible with its superior level of optical performance. Its construction is also compact, being only 105.7mm in length.Optical TechnologyThe Sigma 8-16mm lens uses four FLD (F Low Dispersion) elements which give the same extremely low refractive index as fluorite glass. This helps to correct residual chromatic aberration, that which can't be corrected by normal optical glass. Three aspherical elements also keep the image sharp right through the zoom range.HSM with Full Time Manual FocusThe Hyper Sonic Motor ensures the internal focusing system is fast, accurate and quiet, while the Full Time Manual Focus feature means that you can adjust the focus manually just by turning the focus barrel, without having to miss the photo trying to find an AF/MF switch.Super Multi Layer CoatingAdvanced lens coating technology to drastically reduce lens flare and ghosting effects.SpecificationsLens Construction: 15 Elements in 11 GroupsAngle of View: 114.5°-75.7°Number of Diaphragm Blades: 7Minimum Aperture: f22Minimum Focusing Distance: 24cmMaximum Reproduction Ratio: 1:7.8

The new 055 carbon fibre 4-section tripod delivers maximum rigidity from the lightest components; a masterpiece of engineering designed for photographers who want the best from their tripod and need it to be easily transportable. The 100% carbon fibre tubes and new QPL leg locking system increase the tripod’s rigidity and absorb vibrations, stabilizing camera equipment under any conditions. Carbon fibre tubing and magnesium castings also reduce the weight of this tripod compared to the equivalent aluminium version.Centre ColumnThe key feature of the 055CXPRO4 is its 90° centre column mechanism, which allows the column to be extended vertically as normal, or horizontally to open up a wide range of framing and shooting possibilities; this makes the 055CXPRO4 an extremely versatile tripod, suitable for a wide range of photography and video applications. The horizontal column mechanism is housed within the tripod's top casting for compactness, but it is easily and quickly extended whenever you need it. Switching between vertical and horizontal column orientation requires no disassembly, and can even be done with a camera attached. Set-up Speed and Ease of Use Higher locking power doesn’t bring a compromise on ergonomics: QPL’s single-hand opening mechanism enables quicker, more comfortable set-up.The bubble level also rotates 360° so it’s always in the best position for the user, without ever falling inconveniently under a head locking lever. Unlimited Versatility and Creativity The new horizontal column mechanism combined with the 4 leg angles allows the new 055 to smoothly reach whatever camera position you have in mind, always maintaining the safety and stability of your gear. The Easy Link attachment converts the new 055 into a portable photography studio. The Sigma 18-250mm f3.5-6.3 DC Macro OS HSM lens is designed and optimised exclusively for APS-C Format Digital SLR cameras. Its high zoom ratio and compact size have been the result of the application of the latest optical, materials and motor technologies.Completely Re-Designed for CompactnessStructurally redesigned for compactness and performance, the 18-250mm lens is equipped with a minimum focusing distance of 35cm throughout the zoom range, giving an impressive macro performance of 1:2.9 magnification (APS-C Equivalent 1:2). Double-sided aspherical lens construction also makes for smaller dimensions such as a 62mm filter thread.Optical StabiliserThe Optical Image Stabilizer (OS) in this lens gives up to approximately 4 stops’ correction – ideal for sports and even macro photography.High Tech ConstructionThis lens is constructed using a special Thermally Stable Composite (TSC). It has been developed and applied to this lens because it has very little contractility over large temperature changes and has excellent firmness as a platform for the lens elements. Owing to its 25% higher elasticity than polycarbonate (the normal material used) and low thermal shrinkage, TSC enables for more precise construction and therefore less bulky design. For durability there is also a Surface Treated Brass-made Bayonet Mount.Optical ProwessIncludes an SLD (Special Low Dispersion) glass element for excellent correction of colour aberrations, as well as three aspherical lenses including a double-sided aspherical lens, correcting all aberrations to a high degree, throughout the zoom range. Super Multi-Layer Coating is employed on optical surfaces for cutting-out flare and ghosting, as well as the lens having a petal hood supplied. The result is higher contrast images and far less need to worry about shooting towards a light source. Also includes a HSM (Hyper Sonic Motor) for fast and quiet focusing, and a rounded 7-blade diaphragm for a truly natural appearance to defocused areas of your image.Specifications(For physical specs, see Features tab)Lens Construction: 16 Elements in 13 GroupsMinimum Aperture: f/22Diaphragm: Rounded, 7 bladesTypical Angle of View: 76.5° – 6.5°Closest Focus: 35cm (13.8â€, 1:2.9 macro magnification)

A polarising filter is probably the most useful all-rounder after a protective UV filter.Polarising filters can be used to reduce reflections on glass or water (and other non-metallic surfaces).Another major application is to increase colour saturation - particularly effective in landscape shots where the blue of the sky can be greatly enhanced (as shown in picture at top of page - top image before, lower image after). The filter itself is set in a rotating mount and you can vary the degree to which the image is affected by turning the front of the filter ring.It will reduce the amount of light reaching the film by a small amount (up to 2 stops), but a camera with TTL metering will compensate for this automatically. Please Note: This circular polarising filter is designed for autofocus cameras, camcorders, or manual-focus cameras with spot-metering. If you have a manual focus camera you can get away with using a linear polarising style of filter (although this circular one will work equally well). If using a lens wider than 28mm watch out for vignetting caused by the deeper-than-usual filter mount. All in all this is a fantastic addition to the enthusiast photographer's gadget bag, and highly recommended as the first filter to go for when building up an outfit. It is not a special effect filter but can be used to subtly enhance natural-looking scenes.

Tamron
The Tamron 17-50mm f/2.8 VC Di II lens is the successful addition of Vibration Compensation (VC) to an already impressive lens. Provides wide aperture, razor-sharp performance with surprising compactness. NB. This lens is designed for digital SLRs with APS-C sensors only.Vibration CompensationFeatures a tri-axial (3-plane) mechanism that mechanically compensates for any camera shake. For a wide aperture lens such as this, a bulky stabilisation mechanism would generally add greatly to its size. Not here though, as Tamron have successfully applied their most sophisticated technology to keep things compact.Top Quality Optical PerformanceThe SP 17-50mm lens features the following to maximise optical performance and reduce bulk:XR (Extra Refractive Index) glass which allows smaller dimensions yet with improved correction of aberrationsThree compound aspheric elements for further space efficiency to give consistent sharpnessTwo LD (Low Dispersion) elements which act to reduce chromatic aberrations and improve colour fidelity.Reduced peripheral falloff giving better edge-to-edge illumination, especially in wide angle photos. All of these add up to excellent resolution and contrast.BBAR Coating (Broad Band Anti-Reflection)This multi-layer coating is designed to give maximum light transmission of all visible wavelengths while minimising internal reflections which can cause ghosting and flare. To reinforce this, all cemented surfaces are coated too plus a tailored petal lens hood is supplied as standard.Close FocusA close focusing distance of 11.4 (29cm) is possible throughout the entire zoom range. At the 50mm end, this equates to a magnification ratio of 1:4.8 .Zoom LockThis feature locks the zoom barrel in place so that for example when your camera is being carried with the lens facing downwards, your lens won't extend of its own accord.
