It is not surprising that he asked Forge de Laguiole, situated on the high plateau of the Aubrac mountains, to design his first fish knife... naturally ! Christian Ghion created a knife linking the image of a fish for the blade combined with one of a boat for the shape of the handle. But the goal was not only to create an aesthetic but also a functional knife which could be adapted to cut fish as well as meat. This knife is racy and elegant. The height of the blade is 5mm higher than the normal ones to make it a fish slice also. The total length is 24.0 cm making it longer than normal for easy handling. Christian Ghion presents a table knives. Considered as one of the best designer of the generation, Christian Ghion built his career on a series of fortunate meetings. After 5 years studying law, between 1976 and 1981 and a change of direction towards the creation professions in 1982, he met the architect Patrick Nadeau. Together, they founded their agency in 1987. Three years later, they won the « Grand Prix de la Création de la Ville de Paris ». In the following years he met Andrée Putman, who became his godmother, the editor Teruo Kurosaki, who introduced his furniture to Japan, and finally Philippe Starck…In 1997, he collaborated with the Tarkett Sommer Company and one year later, he set up his own design studio. From then on, alone, he developed his activities and interested himself more and more in interior architecture and events organization. He designed a contemporary boudoir for the Chantal Thomass shop in rue Saint Honoré, the decoration of the Pierre Gagnaire restaurants in Paris and in Tokyo and, more recently, the design of a glass vases collection for Salviati and the gallery Cap Berro. The popularity of Christian Ghion is influential enough to be exhibited at the Guggenheim Museum in New York and at the “Fondation Cartier- in Paris. In addition, he was honoured, in 2006, as a “Chevailer des Arts et des Lettres-. Two years after, he designed his first pocket knife for FORGE DE LAGUIOLE which met a great success.
