Percy Grainger composed this work for six hands at one piano in 1902 and subsequently he began a version for percussion ensemble that was never completed. Using sketches of this incomplete arrangement Preston Hazzard has created a unique setting for concert band. The transparent and delicate lilting nature of the original work comes through in this appealing arrangement for winds and percussion.

Sonatine by Eugène Bozza is a piece for Flute and Bassoon dedicated to Jacques Ibert. Strongly lyrical this piece is very interesting and quite challenging to play. It explores the full high and low of the instruments and requires some good breathing ability and strong agility. It is divided in three main parts are I. Allegro II. Andantino and III. Vif. While the first section is very cheerful and energetic the second part is slower and more reflective. The piece ends with a third part that is more direct and decisive. Eugène Bozza won different prizes at the Conservatoire de Paris such as theFirst Prizes for the Violin conducting and composition as well as the Grand Prix de Rome. He composed several operas chamber works and ballets among others.
