Addio Napoli is a medley of well-known Neapolitan melodies including Torna a Surriento by Ernesto de Curtis (1875–1937) Neapolitan Dance by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky (1840–1893) – which he used in his famous ballet SwanLake – Maria Mari! a Neapolitan song by composer Eduardo di Capua (1865–1917) and of course Funiculì Funiculà by composer Luigi Denza (1846–1922). This cheerful medley by the renowned arranger Wil Van der Beek is ideal for allof your concerts!

When Queen Caroline the wife of King George II of England died on 20 November 1737 Handel was commissioned to write an anthem for her funeral service. She was buried in King Henry VII’s Chapel Westminster Abbey on the evening of 17 December 1737 with Handel’s work performed after the funeral service. To emphasize the solemnity of the occasion he used a roughly 100-piece Orchestra and 80 Choristers. The piece is a so-called “full anthem” consisting of an instrumental Introduction (“Symphony”) and thirteen interlinked choruses. The words were written by Edward Willes the Sub-Dean of Westminster at that time using passages from the King James Bible and theBook of Common Prayer albeit sometimes departing from the original wording. The absence of sections for solo voice has made this anthem a favourite among ambitious choruses and a highlight of any concert programme. Brahms' Three Intermezzos have been published as part of ABRSM's 'Signature' Series - a series of authoritative performing editions of standard keyboard works prepared from original sources by leading scholars. Debussy’s Première Rhapsodie is one of two concertante works completed premiered and published during his lifetime. He was commissioned to write it in 1909 for the final examination at the Paris Conservatoire in 1910. Debussy orchestrated it in the summer of 1911. While transferring the clarinet part from the already published version for clarinet and piano he made a few subtle changes particularly in m. 201 which has been a bone of contention among clarinettists for over a century.
