When Queen Caroline the wife of King George II of England died on 20 November 1737 Handel was commissioned to write an anthem for her funeral service. She was buried in King Henry VII’s Chapel Westminster Abbey on the evening of 17 December 1737 with Handel’s work performed after the funeral service. To emphasize the solemnity of the occasion he used a roughly 100-piece Orchestra and 80 Choristers. The piece is a so-called “full anthem” consisting of an instrumental Introduction (“Symphony”) and thirteen interlinked choruses. The words were written by Edward Willes the Sub-Dean of Westminster at that time using passages from the King James Bible and theBook of Common Prayer albeit sometimes departing from the original wording. The absence of sections for solo voice has made this anthem a favourite among ambitious choruses and a highlight of any concert programme. The duets were extremely popular for years to come published by at least a dozen publishers in Austria Germany France and England. In fact many of Mozart's operas and symphonies were arranged for various Piano Flute Guitar String trios Quartets and even wind bands! This new edition has been re-edited to address inconsistencies of articulation and dynamics between the parts and modernize notation.

Stabat Mater Hob.XX bis Oratorio (funeral music) versions from 1767 and 1803 The new scholarly critical edition of Joseph Haydn's Stabat Mater (1767) is published in Henle's complete edition of Haydn's works. This edition is the first to come as close as possible to the lost original and has been compiled using all currently available sources. The score has been fully amended in its original orchestration for two oboes or English horn strings and organ. At a later performance of this work probably in 1803 Haydn attempted to accommodate the intervening changes in musical taste. According to the composer's request and under his supervision SigismundNeukomm enlarged the wind orchestration by adding a flute two clarinets two bassoons two French horns trumpets and timpani. The popular Swedish children's series Pippi Långstrump (Pippi Longstocking) is about an exceedingly strong and strong-willed little girl with red braids - who is the brainchild of Astrid Lindgren. This series has been broadcasted in many countries. I arranged its cheerful theme tune in samba style. Even with the new rhythm the original song is still very recognizable. In the exuberant samba style the percussion plays an important role. Within the Långstrump Samba this is especially clear in the ad libitum percussion solo halfway through the arrangement. The solo can go on as long as desired and offers plenty of freedom because of the free choice of the instruments used.
