Serenatas was commissioned by the Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival and La Jolla Music Society for SummerFest. It was first performed in Summer 2008 as part of the Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival given by Real Quiet at theSt. Francis Auditorium Santa Fe New Mexico. The musicians are free to choose the performance order of the five movements.

A solemn prayer setting by Peter Maxwell Davies of a text from Liber Usualis for unaccompanied SSATB chorus. The setting was first performed in May 2005 at the St. Magnus Cathedral Orkney conducted by Neil Price. A Pianoaccompaniment is provided for rehearsal purposes.

Rythmes simultanées- Georges Dandelot (1895-1975) studied at the Paris Conservatoire before spending his career as a Piano teacher and composer. He published a variety of treatise and studies to aid Piano technique including his third volume of Studies for Rhythm. This Dandelot volume considers that rhythm is the fundamental element of music followed by melody and harmony. Studies for Rhythm addresses simultaneous rhythms in simple measures compound measures and mixed measures. Given that rhythm is imperative to music Dandelot 's Studies for Rhythm is an essential accompaniment to Piano education.

‘You were often on my mind when I was writing’ wrote Robert Schumann to Joseph Joachim who had encouraged him to write this concerto. In view of Schumann’s illness however Joachim began to have his doubts about the value of the work. In his will Joachim prohibited the rst performance until the 100th anniversary of Schumann’s death in 1956. After detailed editorial work the premiere was brought forward to 1937. The theme of the middle movement probably formed the basis of Schumann’s Geistervariationen (‘Ghost Variations’) the character of the third movement is that of a grand polonaise. Yehudi Menuhin who performed the world premiere of the unedited version ofSchumann’s solo part saw in this piece ‘the bridge between Beethoven’s and Brahms’ concertos’.
