Sometimes cool and mysterious sometimes opalescent warm or luminous the colours of time like life itself are ever-changing. When colour materialises it becomes music. With delicate and powerful moods brilliant and intimate textures and joyful and nostalgic sounds music seeps into our memory like stories drawn from many individual real-life experiences.

The nine symphonies composed by Anton Bruckner (1824-1896) constitute landmarks of the Austro-Germanic symphonic tradition. These staples of the orchestral literature possess a grandeur nobility of vision and originality that have survived despite extensive revision and unauthorized editing by other musicians. Moreover the original versions of these works reveal a logical organization far greater than originally realised. Symphony No.5 one of Bruckner 's finest orchestral works was written in the late 1870s but not performed until 1894. Like the best of his earlier works it features strikinglyoriginal harmonies an extended structure and tonal range and a gripping monumental sonority. Based on the authoritative autograph score this complete restoration of the composer's original design offers musicians and music lovers the chance to study the music as originally conceived.

The Baron of Dedem once ruled over a large plot of peat in the Netherlands. 1809 saw the beginning of the construction of a canal to transport this fuel so important in those days. The canal was named after the Baron as was the nearby village. This work describes the establishment of the canal and the village but also life in the region nowadays thereby setting a slice of Dutch life to music.

Composer of Groningen Egbert composed the march Hellender in response to the opening of the bandroom of the Hellendoornse Harmonie (NL). The joyfull sounds of the march let you hear how well the total refurbished building now looks again: fresh bright and spacious! The name Hellender was chosen from historical awareness. The village Hellendoorn is an ancient village as shown by archaeological finds. In 1078 the name Hellender can be found in the archives. Hellender changed into Hellendoorn later.
