The work was premiered by the Berlin Cathedral Choir on 1 January 1844. As Mendelssohn neither released the work for publication nor produced a vocal score his psalm setting did not appear in print until after his death. For this edition the authoritative Mendelssohn specialist John Michael Cooper drew primarily on the autograph score with its many subsequent corrections and amendments. In this way it differs from many other editions which tend to treat the autograph as a subordinate source. Rounding off the edition are an informative Foreword and a detailed Critical Commentary. The Piano reduction is based on the first printed edition which was published by F. Kistner and Evers & Co. in 1851.

Authoritative Urtext edition of Johann Sebastien Bach's Brandenburg Concerto No.4 In G Major BWV 1049 . The six Brandenburg Concertos BWV 1046-1051 prized jewels of the world's musical heritage were written in 1721 during Bach's appointment in Cothen. Of the six works Bach originally wrote earlier versions of numbers 1 and 5 which differ not only with regard to articulation but also at times different tones different rhythms instrumentation and of course form. These Urtext publications [BA 5201-BA 5206] taken from the New Bach Edition now give performers the possibility to play these earlierversions perhaps even alongside the version known today.

French composer Henri Busser entered the Paris Conservatoire in 1889. He won the 1893 Prix de Rome and led a highly successful career as a composer conductor teacher and organist. His compositions for a variety of instruments are exceptional Cantabile Et Scherzando for Trombone and Piano being no exception. As reflected in Cantabile Et Scherzando Busser 's compositional style was sophisticated yet true to the 19th century French tradition. Elements of the Cantabile include include legato phrasing dotted rhythms and triplets superbly contrasted in the Scherzando by staccato rhythms a quick tempo and scalic passages. For all advanced Trombone players Busser 's Cantabile Et Scherzando is essential to a varied repertoire.

Beethoven's 'Romances' are performed all over the world yet how many conductors performers and listeners are aware that op. 50 which was incidentally composed before op. 40 comes down to us in an unfinished form? The autograph score contains little to no articulation or dynamics and to the present day the work has existed only in highly over-edited publications. The performer has no way of knowing what was originally intended by the composer. Bärenreiter’s new Urtext edition of opp. 50 and 40 offers the score to op. 50 twice; the first score reflects the state of Beethoven’s autograph with editorial markings clearly indicated the second score has beenedited based on other works by Beethoven from that period. This manner of publishing remains true to the sources and at the same time offers musicians a reliable transparent score for performances. It was in 1816 that Schubert completed his settings of Ossian's songs and added lieder on texts by Johann Georg Jacobi Johann Peter Uz and Matthias Claudius. Also included are the lieder from the Grob family songbook. In summer 1816 Schubert produced his first settings of poems by Christian Friedrich Daniel Schubart (“Grablied auf einen Soldaten” and “An mein Klavier”) the author of the words to one of his most famous songs “Die Forelle”/ “The Trout” (see Volume 2).
