The travels of the Aztec people as they headed south through North America looking for a new home acted as the inspiration for Lake of the Moon . The composition contains small fragments of Oriental music and South American rhythms and occasionally Russian Cossacks seem to raise their heads. The journey from North to South is not without danger which is represented by threatening sounds within the music. In the Adagio divoto the composer takes us along to the Texcoco Lake which the Aztecs called the lake of the moon. Bring a little bit of South American history to your concert with Lake of the Moon .

Cyril Scott was an English composer writer and poet. He was essentially a late romantic composer whose style was at the same time strongly influenced by impressionism. His harmony was notably exotic. Scott wrote around four hundred works which include two mature symphonies three operas three Piano concertos concertos for Violin Cello Oboe and Harpsichord several overtures four oratorios as well as a mass of chamber music. Between 1903 and 1920 Scott wrote copiously for the Piano. Most of these pieces were harmonically adventurous for their time and easy to play; they circulated widely in manycountries of the world. A Little Russian Suite for Piano was composed during this period. This complete edition includes all three movements ( Russian Air Siberian Waltz Dance ) which can either be played separately or together as a suite. Performance time of the whole suite is approximately 6 minutes.

For unaccompanied divisi mixed voices the challenging work will surely hold a significant place in the body of global music appreciated by our audiences today.

Reduction for oboe and piano-A capricious lyrical and nostalgic work it is often considered to be Vaughan Williams' most successful work in this form. The first movement is pastoral in feeling. The second movement begins with a minuet light and staccato in nature with a middle section featuring a musette's characteristic long-held drone played by the oboe with the melody in the strings. The third movement is a scherzo and two trios. You won't find many better 20th Century Woodwind Concertos than this one. In fact this is the only one that Vaughan Williams ever wrote. This wonderful version is for solo Oboe with a Piano Reduction by Michael Millinar.
