There being no just cause or impediment to the contrary Christopher Maxim makes a daring liaison between the music-hall ballad 'Daisy Daisy' (on pedals) and the grand organ style of Vierne (on manuals) in his Toccata Nuptiale written for the wedding of a friend whose passions include cycling. The result which moves along way from the organ loft of Notre Dame is a splendid addition to the repertoire of wedding music and of light-hearted concert works - and is much simpler to play than a real Vierne toccata!

Jack Hawes (1916-2004) was a British composer cellist and pianist. He wrote widely for choir orchestra strings and solo instruments and cited his influences as Walton Ireland Bliss Delius and Debussy. His first setting of the evening canticles the Magnificat And Nunc Dimittis in D was completed in 1955 and dedicated to the church of St Mary-Le-Tower Ipswich where he sang as a boy chorister and first began to study the organ. It is scored for SATB with Organ accompaniment and is firmly in the 20th century Anglican style with plenty of soaring melodic lines and big climatic moments.

Commissioned by Gareth Malone for Series Four of BBC TV's 'The Choir' and first performed by Malone and the Military Wives' choir as part of The Royal British Legion's Festival of Remembrance at the Royal Albert Hall on 12th November 2011 in the presence of Her Majesty The Queen. A favourite for the 2011 Christmas Number One with support from radio DJ Chris Evans who has suggested every choir in the country should sing this song it's the biggest threat to X-Factor chart domination this year. The text is taken from poems letters and prayers written by the Military Wives selectedand adapted by Paul Mealor and a passage from the Book of John: Wherever you are my love will keep you safe; My heart will build a bridge of light across both time and space. This work was commissioned by the Richard Gregson-Williams Trust for Tamsin Little who gave its first performance at the BBC Promenade Concerts at the Royal Albert Hall London on July 31 2001 with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra conducted by Martyn Brabbins.

The Golden Gryphon by Tom De Haes portrays three distinguished characteristics of this fascinating mythical beast: the gryphon as guardian of the divine mystery; the winged gryphon pulling the chariot of the sun god Helios; and the gryphon as heroic invincible creature. The composition begins mysteriously before the appearance of the three themes - at _x001F_first individually and then contrapuntally combined. A majestic chorale leads us _x001F_finally to a dignified ending.
