It was only with his late works that Debussy an unconventional innovator turned back to tradition. In 1915 he had six sonatas for various instruments in mind. He was only to complete three of them before his death in 1918 following a severe illness. The first of these was the Cello Sonata that he composed unusually quickly in 1915. During his summer holiday by the sea in Pourville Debussy worked at great speed. The sonata with an unusual sequence of movements Prologue-Sérénade-Finale was published in that same year. 1st & 3rd Position String Quartet: Romantic contains 4 pieces from some of the most famous composers of the Romantic period all expertly arranged by William McConnell for String Quartet. William McConnell grew up and was educated in Dundee where he started his musical education at the age of 9 learning to play Fiddle. Shortly after the war McConnell joined the Royal Marines School of Music where he enjoyed making music world-wide as well as taking on the traditional role of The Ship's Fiddler. After coming out of the services he began to educate at The King's School in Canterbury. Nowin his 80's McConnell still spends his time as an educator of music and restoring stringed instruments.

This work comprises two dances of Italian origin written in different styles to show the full potential of the trumpet and its versatility as a solo instrument. 1. Tarantella: is a fast folkdance of Southern Italy. It is usually written in 6/8 time and alternates between major and minor keys. The Tarantella derives from the town of ?Taranto? and legend has it that the Tarantella was the only cure for the effects of the bite of the Tarantula spider - this is where the dance got its name. 2. Siciliano: is another Italian dance and was used during the Baroque period in instrumental music. It is written in a slow 6/8 time and is characterised by its lilting rhythms simple melodies and lush harmonies. The Siciliano is extremely songlike and is associated with pastoral scenes. The work was composed for Dean Wright (Principal Trumpet of the Welsh National Opera) and was first performed in 2002.

An Album For Clarinet In Bb and Piano- 'This album was inspired by the wedding of our daughter Tess.' The Wagner and Mendelssohn are of course popular at weddings and the slow movement of the Mozart concerto creates a beautiful ambience. My own piece 'Wedding Bells' conveys a celebratory loving and joyous atmosphere and 'on the big day' I played it during the signing of the register accompanied by the father of the bride - it was an emotional performance! These arrangements are intended to catch the mood: purists please forgive me - Wagner Mozart and Mendelssohn may not have written every note here but I hope that they would approve.
