The Via Aurelia is a Roman road that runs from Rome to Pisa. The construction of this long route started in the third century BC and was used to reach the town of Cosa (now Ansedonia) which the Romans had founded. From here they could govern the Etruscan regions they had recently conquered. Numerous old castles and historical monuments are to be found along this road. One of them is the Porta S. Pancrazio or Porta Aurelia in Rome. It was intended both as the starting point of the Via Aurelia and to protect the city and its inhabitants from sea-based attacks. The work entitled Via Aurelia describes the places of interest along this road and the many battles and wars thatwere fought there.

Songs of Praise is a beautiful adaptation of a Netherlands church melody to Psalm 150. The composer Jacob de Haan shows his deft hand at arranging by setting the melody in creative and varied instrumentations. His Songs of Praise is perfectly suited to worship or indeed as a concert intermezzo.

This highly inventive duo owes their long-term career to the ability to bridge melodic pop and dance music with intelligence and style. Go West was one of their hits from 1993 and this arrangement by Ron Sebregts retains all the splendor of the original. In writing this piece Gino Bergamini was inspired by the figure of Davy Crockett hunter and pioneer in the colonisation of the western part of North America. The piece is built entirely on the smooth succession of intriguing themes and characterised by sharp rhythms. The themes after a short elaboration with an expressive and meaningful style return in a finale with rich sonority to recreate the fascinating atmosphere of that mythical hero Davy Crockett.

After this Grandioso ma con moto the instrumentation gets smaller and the piece comes to an end with the initial theme but this time even slower than in the opening.
