The Gavotte is an old dance that is used by most of the baroque composers such as Bach and Handel. This gavotte composed by Handel has been expertly arranged for young band by Andrew Watkin.

Oversized Score for Concert Band-Citadel was composed to commemorate the 150th anniversary of The University of Kansas (1865 to 2015.) It begins with optional offstage chimes (one or two sets [opt.]) to depict the daily ringing of the bells in KU's World War II Memorial Campanile. Trumpets introduce a fanfare-like figure that quickly evolves into the opening theme of the work. As the music settles and becomes softer a saxophone choir introduces a slower more pensive middle theme intended to describe the university's academic nature. A quiet moment at the end of this section hints at the famous Rock Chalk Chant in solo horn before the chimes and fanfare return to end the work in a final dramatic outburstof sound and color.

Book 1-This collection includes Schubert’s Serenade Schumann’s Traumerei Yradier’s La Paloma Offenbach’s Barcarolle adapted from Tales of Hoffmann and Tchaikowsky’s Chanson Triste arranged by Charlie Kunz in his own style.The Kunz style favoured big many-layered chords in the right hand with a more rhythmic underpinning in the left. For instance the Kunz arrangement of Schumann’s Traumerei transforms a delicate right-hand line into a series of four-note chords which Kunz himself was able to play with grace and finesse. The arrangements tend to end with the thrill of a rallentando and high chord.Pianist Charlie Kunz had a long career as a solo pianist touring throughout Britainand appearing on television and radio. He had originally emigrated to the UK after World War I to work in a dance band but his distinctive and winning style soon led to a solo career performing his own versions of classical favourites.

Karel Husa (b. 1921) is an American composer who was born and raised in Czechoslovakia. Twelve Moravian Songs is a charming collection of moderately difficult songs for solo Voice and Piano originally intended for school use. They were finished c. 1955 just after the composer had settled in New York. The text and melodies were taken virtually unaltered from traditional folk songs from the Czech region of Moravia. The straightforward Piano accompaniment was added by the composer and reflects the simplicity and beauty of the traditional tunes. The original text has been translated into English by Ruth Martin.
