Johannes Brahms ' Violin Concerto written for his friend Joseph Joachim has remained a standard in the concert literature since its first performance. No scholarly critical edition of this work has ever been published and therefore the many sometimes conflicting sources have never been evaluated for a critical performing edition. Not only Brahms ' autograph score solo part and autograph Piano reduction but also his personal copies of the first edition score as well as the first edition orchestral parts have all been consulted. Clive Brown's edition offers insights into the genesis of the composition and the working relationshipbetween Brahms and Joachim. The critical commentary comments on all discrepancies in the sources. The critical edition of Brahms ' own Piano reduction is at the same time a performing edition and includes an informative introduction as well as comments on performance practice. In addition the Piano reduction includes a separate brochure with not only the well known Joachim cadenza but also those by J. Halir H. Heermann L. Auer and F. Busoni. An informative preface (Ger/Eng) with references to performance practice and a critical commentary are included in the edition First scholarly critical edition of this standard work Critical commentary (Eng) Insightful comments on performance practice An Urtext Violin part and an additional Violin part marked with fingering and bowing suggestions by Joseph Joachim Valuable cadenza brochure with cadenzas by Joachim Halir Heermann Auer and Busoni Full score critical commentary & parts (BA9049) and Violin & Piano reduction (BA9049-90) and study score (TP949) available for sale

Trumpet Fiesta spotlights four trumpet soloists. From the opening bars the music expresses a feeling of happiness. This swift and lively piece begins with a series of dynamic staccato passages from the soloists. The central section in the minor key contrasts with the beginning of the work and during this transition period there are only two solo trumpet parts. The first theme then quickly reappears before moving on to a peaceful and more melodic trio in which long and flowing melody lines allow the soloists to let the beautiful sound of the trumpet fully reveal itself. The sound pyramid then formed by the whole band leads this spectacular piece to a powerful finale.

This great football anthem is now infamous as the song sung by ‘the kop’ at Liverpool Football Club. It was however made famous worldwide when it was sung against the background of the Eiffel Tower to close the 1998 World Cup. It can now be played and enjoyed by your band with this great arrangement. An ideal piece to close any concert.

for String Quartet op. 35a-Josef Suk played second violin in the Bohemian String Quartet. Since 1914 the ensemble was obliged to perform the Austrian national anthem at the opening of every concert. Suk decided to supplement this obligatory piece with a work inspired by the ancient sacred Bohemian “St. Wenceslas” hymn. The hymn’s message – a plea for the well-being of the Czech people directed at their patron saint – was immediately understood by the audience. The Bohemian String Quartet performed this single-movement Meditation for the first time on 27 September 1914; the premiere of the version for string orchestra followed on 22 November 1914 played by the Czech Philharmonic. That same year thepiece was published by Fr. A. Urbánek together with arrangements for piano and organ. This first Urtext edition prepared by the Suk scholar Zdenek Nouza is published in two scorings one for string quartet (BA 9583; study score TP 583) and another for string orchestra (BA 9584). The orchestral version differs in some details and has an added part for double bass. Josef Suk played second Violin in the Bohemian String Quartet. Another moving choral ballad from Carl Strommen. Wish we had room to quote the entire lyric but here's a sample: 'This is the best of times; we reach for the stars. Our spirit grows stronger stronger with time.' You couldn't choose a finer piece for your end-of-year concerts . . . but learn it in the fall and sing it all year long. Stronger With Time is an inspiring song from composer Carl Strommen. It is arranged for a 2-Part choir with Piano Accompaniment.
