Composed by Georges Delerue a French composer specialised in film music Le Le Concerto De L'Adieu is a piece for Violin and Piano accompaniment. Edited by Roberto Cani it lasts 9 minutes. This concerto is part of the original soundtrack of Dien Bien Phu (1992) by Pierre Schoendoerffer. It is used in the film for a scene which represents the loss of Dien Bien Phu: a concert is going to happen and while the music starts some sporadic images of the battle are shown. The concert finishes with the audience applauding and the next scene shows some soldiers having their last drink knowing the battle is already lost. The concerto goes through different phases to express what is seen through the images alternating melancholy desperation desolation and the feeling of lost power.

The Great- The series of symphonies in the New Schubert Edition is a milestone of modern scholarly-critical editing lending these works a transparency lacking in earlier editions of a more romantic bent. Written in 1803 by Johann Nepomuk Hummel (1778-1837) this Trumpet Concerto in E-flat Major is a classical piece of the Trumpet repertoire. Composed in the spirit of Mozart and initially for the keyed-Trumpet it was re-discovered in 1958 by a Yale student after 150 years of inertia due to the obsolescence of the instrument for which it was made. This edition offers a transposition in E-flat Major (initially in E Major) adapted to the instruments in use today. The other instruments to be involved in this concerto are a Flute two Oboes two Clarinets two Bassoons two Horns Timpani and Strings. Hummel's Trumpet Concerto begins with an orchestra onlyfirst movement in a sonata theme which is repeated with the inclusion of the soloist. This Allegro Spirito sounds reminiscent of the Haffner Symphony (No. 35 in D Major) by Mozart but distinguished itself by a second theme. The second movement Andante is more melodic with the trumpet which holds long notes. Finally the Rondo offers a blissful and bright end to the Concerto. Former student of Mozart Johann Nepomuk Hummel (1778-1837) was a brilliant composer pianist conductor and teacher. Evolving at the same period as Beethoveen he became as famous as him and wrote numerous concertos (for Piano Oboe Trumpet Violin and others) operas and some wind music pieces.

Eb Instruments-This CD (including music booklet) has not especially been worked out for the use in musical education. It is on the contrary an audio CD which has been recorded for sale as a trio CD under my name. Mixing the recordings at the studio however gave us the idea to offer this CD Legal Paradizer also as a play along CD. For this reason I have never taken a pedagogic approach to the musical conception of the pieces performed which in my opinion is exactly what makes these recordings so unique. The structure of none of the pieces is for instance as simple as that of the tunes on some other play along CDs. Therefore I have taken the liberty of adding a short explanationand/or comment on every piece meant to make it easier for you to follow the road map of the tunes. Additionally I have explained some stylistic features to help you interprete the individual pieces. Working with my students has shown me how much fun it can be to also offer groove and funk oriented music on a CD to play along. In most of the pieces you do not necessarily have to follow the changes; you should rather develop simple ideas in time. A real strong emphasis is here placed on the term groove.
