for Solo Bb Euphonium (or Baritone ad lib.) and Concert Band- Reverie is a small piece of music for a euphonium player. A dear friend and colleague of mine commissioned the work to whom Reverie is also dedicated. The work commences with a dream-like melody and then explores various emotions to showcase its virtuosic capabilities.

Christopher Norton’s distinctive contributions to the repertoire successfully bridge the gap between traditional literature and music in contemporary popular styles. The original series Christopher Norton ConnectionsTM for Piano contains over 200 newly composed pieces carefully selected edited and sequenced to span ten levels from elementary to advanced. The subsequent books for other instruments are drawn from these alongside more recently composed music. The pieces in Connections for Guitar 1 cover a wide range of styles and present many of the same challenges found in more traditional repertoire whatever the instrument – tonal beauty balance between melody andaccompaniment natural movement and phrasing. More rhythmically oriented pieces require coordination a deep-seated sense of pulse and awareness of stylistic touches and accentuations. All pieces benefit from a strong connection to mood movement or image.

Connections for violin and piano are appealing contemporary pieces by Christopher Norton. They have been carefully edited (including bowing and fingering) as well as graded. As with Connections for piano the pieces cover a wide range of popular styles - including waltz rock Latin and swing. Students and their teachers will learn how to play the violin better while gaining valuable perspectives on a range of styles.

Collection-Christopher Norton is well-known throughout the world for his compositions for piano particularly the Microjazz series published by Boosey & Hawkes and Connections for Piano published by 80 Days Publishing. His music is popular with piano students as well as professional performers because he writes well for the piano has a subtle blend of jazz pop and classical influences and has a distinctive style of writing that appeals to a wide range of audiences. The nine pieces in this book are from my Jazz and Latin Preludes for solo piano beautifully transcribed and arranged for the pedal harp by Savourna Stevenson. I’m so pleased that these pieces are available to acompletely new group of instrumentalists. Enjoy!

Reggae Night

Arioso is the third piece from the Towards the Light collection for piano written during Patrick’s time as Composer in Residence for Classic FM. Arranged for lever harp by Elinor Evans this beautiful piece is a soothing outpouring of melody. Meaning ‘in the style of an aria’ it introduces the lyrical quality which is a major feature of the collection.
