Overture- J.S. Bach ’s Four Orchestral Suites belong to that select group of works one could truly call classical hits! They stem from Bach ’s extremely productive time in Cöthen which ended in 1721. Unfortunately the only sources that have come down to us are copyist parts from Leipzig. These originally formed the basis for the critical complete edition volume which was published in 1967 as part of the “New Bach Edition”. At that time Bärenreiter also issued separate scores and parts which however were prepared with additional articulation and performance suggestions. Bärenreiter’s new edition of Bach ’s great four suitesnow presents the Urtext as found in the “New Bach Edition” i.e. without emendations and performance suggestions. Die Cantata für gemischten Chor und Klavier (oder Orgel) ist ein Frühwerk Ursula Mamloks wenn man die Komposition einer Mittdreißigerin denn so nennen kann. 1958 zur Entstehungszeit des Stücks hatte die Komponistin gerade ihr Studium an der Manhattan School of Music beendet. In den Folgejahren mit Studien bei Stefan Wolpe und Ralph Shapey näherte sie sich der Reihentechnik an und entwickelte den typischen Stil der in den späteren Jahrzehnte typisch für sie sein sollte. Die Cantata ist also das musikalische Zeugnis einer Übergangsperiode und nimmt auch weil Chorkompositionen in Mamloks Schaffen selten sind eine Sonderstellung ein. Allerdings eine äußerst reizvolle.Der etwa 7-minütigen einsätzigen Komposition liegt der 1. Psalm in englischer Sprache zugrunde. Ritornellartig kehrt das Wort „Blessed“ wieder mit Quartakkorden charakteristisch harmonisiert. Der Chorsatz ist äußerst vielfältig und bis zu achtstimmig aufgefächert. Immer wieder treten Soli aus allen Stimmgruppen hervor. Homophone kontrastieren mit durchbrochenen und imitatorischen Abschnitten begleitete mit a cappella gesungenen. Interessant ist auch die Instrumentalstimme die nicht nur den Gesang begleitet sondern individuell und in wechselhafter Gestaltung hervortritt.

Vocal Score-In the days just before the Christmas of 1816 Rossini was still looking for the subject and the libretto for an opera that he was contractually obliged to stage at the Teatro Valle in Rome in just over a month's time. Jacopo Ferretti proposed a libretto he had himself written based on the famous fairytale by Perrault Cinderella . Rossini composed the opera in less than a month completing it on the 24th January 1817 the day before its public debut. Removed from its original fairytale context Ferretti and Rossini's La Cenerentola is a comedy with some credible situations where comedy and sentiment come together brilliantly. The opera was a fantastic hit rightfrom the start and is still one of the composer's absolute masterpieces! This is the Vocal Score of Rossini and Ferretti's famous collaboration La Cenerentola .

We Shall Rise Again-The terroristic attacks in Brussels Paris Nice and Berlin shocked many people and lead to fear distrust and disbelief. To express these emotions Bert Appermont composed the beautiful and sensitive In Memoriam . He used parts of the song Au Clair de la Lune as a symbolic reference to the innocence that was suppressed by these events. He combined this with a lyrical melody which expresses the hope for a better world. In Memoriam is a touching and reflective piece for a concert.

Two months later he shortened the second movement by about 40 bars. The work waspublished by Simrock in this form in 1885. Gulliver's Travels-Maxime Aulio composed Les Voyages de Gulliver (Gulliver’s Travels) for the concert band of the Conservatoire National de Région in Toulouse (France) conducted by Jean-Guy Olive. The first performance took place in Toulouse (Auditorium Saint-Pierre des Cuisines) on April 25 2001. The Anglo-Irish author Jonathan Swift (1667-1745) took about six years to complete his epic tale of adventure. The creative storyline clear writing and subtlety of Gulliver’s Travels have been engaging readers for generations. This literary travel between reason and foolishness was Maxime Aulio’s inspiration for this piece. Each of the four movements of this suite is a review of Gulliver’sadventures resembling the effect of a kaleidoscope which juxtaposes small fragments of colour in a linear pattern.
