Recital Music
Double Trouble was composed in 2006 as part of Recital Music's One Minute Wonders project - for pieces lasting exactly one minute. It was premiered by Sophie Heyes (double bass) accompanied by the composer on 18 October of that year. Double Trouble is adapted from a song from the musical of Terry Pratchett's Wyrd Sisters and the rhythm of the famous verse 'Hubble Bubble Toil and Trouble' can clearly be heard. Aimed at the intermediate bassist this is lively and rhythmic music which is successful in performance.

Introducing New T3N Harmonic Chimes-The definitive text on playing harmonics (chimes) on the 5-string banjo in G tuning! In addition to traditional chiming methods the author's new T3N technique for creating banjo harmonics will add new dimensions to your playing. While particularly useful in the three-finger style T3N can be used in other banjo styles and on other stringed instruments. Most banjo players are familiar with playing open-string harmonics on the 5-string banjo over the 12th 7th and 5th frets or perhaps the 4th and 9th frets so that in typical G-tuning the open G-chord D-chord octave G-chord and B-chord notes are chimed. With the T3N technique presented in this book entire scales canbe chimed with other harmonic effects including choking and sliding possibilities! The first part of this book provides a review of traditional banjo harmonic chiming techniques while the second part explores the exciting new T3Napproach. Written in tablature only for 5-string banjo in GDGBD tuning. The definitive text on playing harmonics (chimes) on the 5-string banjo in G tuning! Elgar published the Chanson de Matin – and its partner Chanson de Nuit – at the time of his life when he was also creating the Enigma Variations and The Dream of Gerontius. This work was originally created as a Violin and Piano duet but Elgar then Orchestrated the work and it was presented at the Proms. Since then other arrangements have been created.Although published in 1897 scholars suggest that these two works may have been written in the 1880’s. The contrast of the two melodies which Elgar then intertwines yields a satisfying short work especially with the composer’s fine Orchestration.

Four short movements for two Bassoons. Composer's Note. Take Two Bassoons is planned as one of a series of light-hearted works for pairs of instruments written with advice from performers who are also experienced teachers. Many of these pieces explore some specific opportunities and challenges inherent in the technique of each instrument. There are four short movements: Jaunty Tenderly Angry and Running Wild. Note from Marc Goldberg. Thea Musgrave asked to meet with me in New York to discuss a set of duets she was writing and we got together over coffee near Carnegie Hall for an indepth discussionabout the bassoon. I confess to having had momentary misgivings when asked to list things that were difficult to do on the instrument envisioning for a moment an etude of unforgiving notes difficult dynamics uncomfortable articulations clumsy cross-fingerings and the like arranged back-to-back in an endurance test to challenge the best players on their best day. What she has in fact created is delightful – a charming set of pieces full of character wit colour and yes challenge perfectly suited for student and teacher alike and wonderful recital works to boot. I couldn’t be more pleased to have had some part however small in their roots and am looking forward to calling these pieces – and Thea Musgrave - lifelong friends.
