French violinist and composer Jean-Joseph Cassanéa de Mondonville (1711-1772) was a young contemporary of Rameau. De Mondonville was successful in his day Dominues Regnavit being no exception. Best known for his Operas and Sacred music De Mondonville 's compositions won the composer the post of Master of the Music of the Royal Chapel. Dominus Regnavit was composed in 1935 and is a Large Motet based on Psalm 92. With a typical performance lasting about 23 minutes de Mondonville 's Dominus Regnavit for choir is a sublime addition to the repertoire.

Composer and arranger Albert W Ketèlbey is now almost unknown except for his work Bells Across the Meadows but until the time of the Second World War he strode the country’s musical stage like a giant of light musicalentertainment. In 1929 he was declared ‘Britain’s greatest composer’ according to the number of performances of his works. Over the course of his career he was a church Organist musical director at London’s VaudevilleTheatre editor to several music publishing firms and Music Director of the Columbia Gramophone Company.His most popular works are a series of Orchestral tone poems like this one based on a verse from his own poem In a MonasteryGarden. The title of the work suggests an allegorical hiding place deep in the forest from where one can easily observe the surrounding reality. The first movement flows and swirls like diving under water at times changing direction and always bubbling merrily. The second movement’s ethereal shimmering culminates into the last movement’s mighty chord pillars that pile up on one another like an ash cloud.
