Voix Moyennes Et Piano-Recueil- Gabriel Pierné (1863-1937) was a French composer conductor and organist. Despite being predominantly remembered as a conductor his Trois Chansons De Métiers remains a recognised piece in the Vocal repertoire. Pierné studied at the Paris Conservatoire before taking up the position of chief conductor for the concert series Concerts Colonne in 1910. He remained in the post until 1933 and during this time he notably conducted the world premiere of Igor Stravinsky's The Firebird. Pierné composed for a variety of instruments. Trois Chansons DeMétiers is arranged for two vocal groups and contains many characteristics typical of the French style such as lyrical melodies a significant amount performance directions flourishes of semiquavers chromaticism and many changes in dynamics. Trois Chansons De Métiers 1) The Tailor 2) The Shoemakers and 3) The Rope Maker is a varied piece essential to the repertoire of aspiring choristers.

Today the Gloria RV 589 (BA 7674) is one of Vivaldi ’s best-known compositions and one of the most frequently performed sacred vocal works from the Baroque period. Vivaldi wrote the “ Gloria ” as a self-contained work in the style of a concertante mass. However it was probably also performed within church services. The scoring of the solo voices (SSA) suggests that the work was written during his period at the Ospedale della Pietà around 1716. In the twelve movements of the “Gloria” Vivaldi displays the whole range of his mastery from festive sublime outer movements to tender transparently scored solopassages. The same mastery has also been applied to the “ Kyrie” RV 587 (BA 8950) scored for two choirs and two groups of stringed instruments. The date of its composition remains unclear. It is a purely a choral work without solo passages. Both works can be performed independently but can also be combined as a kind of short mass. Although the authenticity of the autograph manuscript score is beyond doubt these new editions contain some re-evaluations in phrasing and performance practice which go beyond what other editions have to offer. This first version was compiled from sketches by musicologist Antonio Gallego in 1986. Originally written in 1914-15.

This concerto is small in scale; the first movement making much of an energetically rising arpeggio figure a lyrical second movement with some chromatic harmony that foreshadows parts of Sheherazade and a brisk march-like finale with an extended cadenza. In addition to the traditional cadenza this edition contains an alternative for the more advanced player. A solo part in treble clef also is included.

Engel auf den Feldern singen-This beautiful arrangement begins with a festive opening following which the chorale melody is introduced. A lofty intermezzo follows after which the chorale returns with the joyful atmosphere of the opening. The work concludes with a splendid climax that creates a true Christmas mood for both musicians and audience.
