French composer Pierre Max Dubois (1930-1995) significantly contributed to the wind repertoire. Circus Parade Duo for Alto Saxophone or Clarinet and Drums was published in 1965 and remains prominent as a more unusual addition to the ensemble repertoire. Dubois' music is characteristically light-hearted with unusual harmonic and melodic textures. Circus Parade Duo reflects Dubois' compositional characteristics with a typical performance lasting about fifteen minutes. Dubois' work is suitable for advanced performers addressing virtuosic features such as complex rhythms constantchanges of time signature chromaticism and exploitation of the ensemble amongst other aspects. Circus Parade Duo is essential to the advanced Alto Saxophone Clarinet and Percussion repertoire as Dubois' work makes for an exciting varied and enjoyable performance for players and audiences alike.

Bartók wrote his Piano Concerto No. 3 during the summer of 1945 intending it as a birthday present to be given to his wife Ditta on 31st October. By this time he was already gravely ill; however he was able to finish the score with the exception of the last seventeen bars which he noted in a kind of musical shorthand. These last seventeen bars were deciphered and scored by his friend and pupil Tibor Serly. Only a few expression marks and tempo indications and no metronome marks were found in Bartók's score. Had he lived on there is no doubt that he would have edited the concerto as meticulously as was his habit. In order to give a complete picture of the work suchmarkings as were deemed necessary were added by Tibor Serly; by Eugene Ormandy who conducted the first performance; by Louis Kentner; and by Erwin Stein. In preparing this Revised Edition all extant sources have been examined and compared with the previously printed edition. For full discussion of the amendments reference should be made to the Editorial Notes to the Revised Edition of the published conductor's score. The 1994 Revised edition of Bela Bartok’s Piano Concerto in a pocket study score format. Bartok wrote this piece during the summer of 1945 intending to give it as a birthday present to his wife Ditta On the 31st October. By this time however he was already desperately ill and managed only to finish by composing the last seventeen bars in a kind of musical shorthand. These were then deciphered and scored by his friend and pupil Tibor Serly.

Jericho is the musical translation of the well-known story from the book of Joshua about the capture of the city of Jericho by the Israelites.Part 1 depicts the cruel journey through the desert to Canaan the promised land. An emotional lamentation for the yearning for a home for the end of a roaming existence. The capture of Jericho is the theme of part 2. The city cannot be captured immediately and Jehovah orders an impressive army to march around the city for six days. On the seventh day they marched around the city seven times and the priests blew their trumpets and the people cried so loud that the walls of Jericho came tumbling down. The Jews stormed the city and drove theinhabitants away. The music clearly reveals the marching army and you can hear the walls falling down with a tremendous noise. However there is quite some artistic freedom in the actual story.A majestic and grand melody subsequently evokes the triumphant emotions that emerged as the fortified city fell (part 3).Following a personal and romantic interpretation the scene ultimately ends in a typical Jewish feast (part 4) whereby the virtuosity of melodies played by the woodwinds and the passionate rhythms refer to traditional Jewish music. All themes are repeated in this last part in various forms often simultaneous and in duelling counterpoint. The piece ends with fragments from the main theme of part 1 in major: peace and quiet return at last.

72 Solo Cantatas for Voice Melodic Instrument and Basso continuo. Lent & Easter - High Voice. When Telemann issued his first annual cycle of printed cantatas Der Harmonische Gottesdienst (Hamburg 1725-6) he was already one of the leading cantata composers of his time. Thanks to their brevity and their simple scoring the 72 solo cantatas have remained very popular to the present day. These editions (BA 5891 through to BA 5896) divide the annual cycle into cantatas for high voice and cantatas for medium voice. Each series spreads the works over three volumes accompanied by separate parts for soloinstrument and continuo. The cantatas follow the order of the liturgical year beginning with the Christmas season and continuing with Easter and Trinity. Being practically minded Telemann arranged the ambitus of the vocal parts so that the cantatas for medium voice are also suitable for an ordinary alto or bass'. Similarly the solo instruments are suitable for Violin Oboe Recorder or Flute. - Interesting solo cantatas for use in church services. - Urtext from the Telemann Edition. - Separate parts for instrument and continuo.
