Trompeten-Ouvertüre- The Overture in C major the so-called Trumpet Overture with its brass fanfare was composed in 1826 and a second version with considerable revisions was made in 1833 for performances in Dusseldorf and London. The Overture in C major was first published posthumously in 1867. Christopher Hogwood's Urtext edition takes into account both Mendelssohn's autograph now held in the Bibliothèque nationale in Paris which has two endings as well as the London manuscript copy made for the performance there in 1834; this manuscript contains three separate trombone parts in Mendelssohn's hand. The newBärenreiter edition presents the work as found in Mendelssohn's autograph for the first time. In early 1729 Bach became director of the so-called »Scottish Collegium Musician« a music organization of students and local citizens. The remarkable results of this undertaking are the concertos for harpsichord. Today it is almost certain that practically all of these concertos were transcribed from concertos for melody instruments (mostly violin or oboe). The Concerto in F major BWV 1052 is the sixth of the harpsichord concertos contained in the autograph score that Bach wrote out in or around 1738 (Berlin Staatsbibliothek Mus. ms. Bach P 234). The initials at the end of the piece SDGl ('Soli Deo Gloria') form a pendant to the J.J. ('Jesus Juva') found at theopening of the D-minor Concerto BWV 1052. This indicates that BVW 1057 formed the final piece in this six-work opus the only authentic and self-contained collection of concertos we have from Bach apart from his presentation copy of the Brandenburg Concertos (1721). Like all the other concertos in this series BWV 1057 is an arrangement of an earlier work in this case the Fourth Brandenburg Concerto in G major (BWV 1049). Complete Piano Sonatas II- Piano works were at the centre of Alexander Scriabin 's compositional output. As an outstanding pianist he began writing mainly miniatures for his instrument in the style of Romantic Piano pieces. But it was also Scriabin who unlike any other composer of his generation contributed to the continuation of the sonata tradition. Particular milestones in his output were Sonatas nos. 4 and 5 of 1903 and 1907 in which we hear forms and harmonies not heard previously. When these works are occasionally given the name 'Poème' Sonatas this indicates that they stem from the time and allude to the compositional context of Scriabin 'sdaring Orchestral works 'Le Divin Poème' and 'Le Poème de lexstase'. The editor Christoph Flamm is an expert in Russian music particularly Piano music. His research for example into Nikolai Medtner and the editions based on these findings are regarded as standard works. For his Bärenreiter edition of Scriabin 's Sonata no. 5 Christoph Flamm has drawn on sources which were until recently regarded as lost or could only be consulted with great difficulty. According to a famous statement by Herder folk songs represent the archives of a nation’s knowledge the expression of its heart and theimage that reflects its history and identity. Suite Marchigiana is a three movement piece inspired by folk songs from the Marche in central Italy a region with a very ancient and rich folkloristic heritage. The first movement elaborates on the well-known Pasquella . The Pasquella comes from a traditional winter begging ritual where a group of musicians go from house to house singing verses wishing their audience good health wealth and abundance in return for small amounts of money food and wine. The second movementis an Andante Triste inspired by an old song called Sona la mezzanotte (The Clock Strikes Midnight) a melancholic song that reminds us of unhappy love stories bereavement and so on. Luciano Feliciani concludes the suite with the Saltarello Marchigiano which is bright and sparkling and therefore in complete contrast with the previous movement. Although unproven the Saltarello is thought to have its origins in the 'saltatio' (a latin dance). While the choreae were group dances circular in structure and with a rhythmic progression the saltationes were more lively in character. The fast frenetic and joyous saltarello was without any doubt the most famous musical expression of rural central Italy in the nineteenth century.

Pastorale- Between 1996 and 2000 Bärenreiter published scholarly-critical editions of Beethoven 's Nine Symphonies edited by the first class musicologist Jonathan Del Mar. The editorial process was a huge undertaking because of the complex source situation regarding Beethoven 's Symphonies culminating in the Choral Symphony (No.9) which came down to the publisher in nearly 20 different sources. So it was not surprising that Bärenreiter's new Urtext edition caused a considerable stir in the music world.
