This work for advanced band was commissioned by the Tennessee Valley Winds to celebrate the groups 30th anniversary. The piece begins quietly with clarinet solo then quickly moves to a celebratory section in 12/8 meter. The main melody is stated inmany different voices as it steadily builds to a moment of controlled frenzy. A brief lyrical section features an expressive style and also a moment of glory for the entire woodwind choir. The work concludes with a return to the vibrant andenthusiastic flavor of the opening. Inspired by an exhibition of historic Peruvian art Kingdom of the Sun and Moon takes us on a mythical journey reflecting the ancient Inca Empire. This imaginary movie score uses modal melodies exotic percussion and dramatic orchestration to create an epic music experience. In cinematic style this work opens with a panoramic picture of the great Inca city of Machu Picchu and ends with a colorful procession towards the Temple of the Sun. Though written for young band Kingdom of the Sun and Moon's effective scoring gives it the sophisticated sound and intensity of a much more advanced piece. Dur: 3:20

While it can be fairly easy to select a musical piece for the beginning of a concert the search for a proper closing piece can sometimes be more difficult. Helping to fill this gap was Stefan Schwalgin's motivation for this Farewell Medley. In this piece he has woven four world-famous folk tunes from the Anglo/Irish/Scottish culture (Danny Boy Amazing Grace The Last Post and Auld Lang Syne) into a high-quality arrangement that allows the band to display its full range of colours at the end of any concert.

This is a wonderful collection of klezmer music inspired by the Jewish dances and songs of the klezmorim from Eastern Europe - from the lyrical HORA to the fast compelling FREILACH. Some of the pieces have a second part ad libitum - for playingtogether or for variation in a repeat. For the accompaniment chord symbols have been added and on the included CD there are complete versions as well as play-along versions of all pieces played live by genuine klezmer musicians.
