This second Strathclyde concerto is a virtuoso piece for the entire ensemble which is used almost throughout as a clutch of soloists rather than asa tutti block. The general tone is one of passionate but interior dialogue especially in the opening Moderato and the slow movement; and though the finale is more extrovert the work ends back in quietness and rumination.

for Organ and Concert Band-This piece was composed in 2009 for a commission by Shinjuku Bunka Center to commemorate its thirty years since its opening.It is an impressive work with a brilliant bright fanfare and the stately sound of the church organ reverberating through the concert hall. The first performance was given by Hiroko Takahashi a house organist of the center with Shinjuku City Wind Orchestra conducted by Shigeto Ishizu. Original works for church organ and wind orchestra are surprisingly scarce. This is a fresh opening piece to be followed by an organ solo which might lead to a march.

for Concert Band Mixed Choir and Organ (optional)-This Latin mass for choir and wind band was composed in honour of Saint Cecilia’s feast day Saint Cecilia being the patroness of musicians. For this reason many ensembles have annual concerts dedicated to Saint Cecila which was the inspiration forthis piece. It is a festive optimistic but also comforting work which in style perfectly suits the character of Saint Cecilia’s Feast Day. After Missa Brevis Missa Katharina and The Gospel Mass Missa Santa Cecilia isthe fourth published mass by the Dutch composer Jacob de Haan.Choral parts available separately.
