This theme is an excellent tune to whistle by the way. After lots of variation in the instrumentation as well as contrasting melodies and themes the finale sees a return to the opening bars of the composition.

Here is a rebel piece of music that combines traditional sacred music with praise music. Beginning with the organ and a stately choir the text from II Chronicles 7:15-16 honors when God is with us in our sacred space. A praiseband feel takes over and introduces a simple song (sung by children or praise singers). Next thing you know the choir and organ bring in two traditional hymns (Come Thou Fount and Joyful Joyful) that all fit together. God istruly in this house for all people of all musical styles.

It comes from the successfulcowboy ballet Rodeo which Copland composed in 1942. BuckarooHoliday contains many syncopated rhythms and convincinglyconveys cowboy life (the word buckaroo is derived from the Spanishword vaquero meaning cowboy). However some melodious lyricismis also present. This fine transcription for concert band has beenproduced by Ed Keeley and certainly does justice to the original.
