Allegro in B-flat major of a Quintet for Clarinet two Violins Viola and Violoncello K.Anh.91 (516c). This Allegro fragment was possibly sketched in 1787 two years before composition of the A major Clarinet Quintet K.581. It is 93 bars long and is complete in all instrumental parts but was abandoned abruptly at the bottom of the fourth page. The distinguished Mozart scholar Robert Levin has completed the sketch with the sole purpose of bringing this extraordinary work into the concert hall to add to the small but choice number of those Mozart works which have always been the most treasured of every clarinettist's repertoire.

In early 1729 Bach became director of the so-called »Scottish Collegium Musician« a music organization of students and local citizens. The remarkable results of this undertaking are the concertos for harpsichord. Today it is almost certain that practically all of these concertos were transcribed from concertos for melody instruments (mostly violin or oboe). BWV 1053 is the second piece in the autograph score of harpsichord concertos that Bach prepared in or around 1738 (Berlin Staatsbibliothek Mus. ms. Bach P 234). It was probably transcribed from a concerto for a solo woodwind instrument although opinions differ on the original key and instrument. Bach had alreadyreworked the original concerto in two church cantatas in the autumn of 1726 (BWV 49 and BWV 169) at which time he assigned the solo part to the organ. Perhaps the original concerto is not much older than these cantatas for the siciliano slow movement is closely related in expression to many numbers from his great Passion settings. Contest March-This fantastic contest march was composed for the Alexander Brass Band from Stavanger Norway who wanted a brand new march to play when they took part in the world-renowned Whit Friday March Contest. In the march Philip Sparke has followed the traditional brass band contest march format and it is named as a tribute to Alexander the Great rather than the Alexander brass band who were actually named after their local pub!

La « fleur de la chevalerie française » pourtant en surnombre fut anéantie par les archers du roi Henry V d'Angleterre. Henry V naquit au château de Monmouth en 1387. Les habitants de la ville de Monmouth continuent de commémorer cette victoire décisive en se rassemblant dans la célèbre rue d’Azincourt (Agincourt Street) et sur la Place d’Azincourt (Agincourt Square) situés non loin de l’établissement scolaire de Monmouth (Monmouth School).

Between 1996 and 2000 Bärenreiter published scholarly-critical editions of Beethoven 's Nine Symphonies edited by the first class musicologist Jonathan Del Mar. The editorial process was a huge undertaking because of the complex source situation regarding Beethoven's Symphonies culminating in the Choral Symphony (No.9) which came down to us in nearly 20 different sources. So it was not surprising that Bärenreiter's new Urtext edition caused a considerable stir in the music world. The piano pieces opp. 116-119 were written in 1892/93 and are the last collections of pieces which Brahms wrote for the instrument. Particularly noteworthy is his use of the 'small form' accompanied by a heightened increase in musical expression compared to his earlier works. Clara Schumann probably the secret dedicatee of the Piano pieces wrote in her diary in November 1892: 'a true source of enjoyment everything poetry passion fantasy intimacy full of the most marvellous sound effects [...] In these pieces I finally feel musical life drawn into my soul again and play once more with true devotion.' Bach's original setting of the Magnificat in E-flat major written for Christmas vespers in 1723 includes four inserts placed at the end of the score to give a dramataic representation of the Nativity. Although the later D major version is most often performed today this earlier E-flat major version stands on its own merits with many attractive features which disappeared with the downward transposition.
