Duo Concertante contains five brief movements of contrasting character. The first movement functions as a short prelude with the viola and bass combining to form alternating high and low harmonies and trading off solo lines. The second movement is a playful scherzo played pizzicato by both instruments while the third movement is the central lyrical movement of the work with undulating natural harmonic tremolos and a rhythmically driving interruptive middle section. The fourth movement consists almost entirely of quickly bowed natural harmonics with fleeting rhythmic tremolos on both instruments. The final movement contains rapidly driving music in constantmotion interrupted twice by cadenza-like free sections which are non-synchronized. The two instruments then come together for the final push to the end. Duo Concertante was written for James and Deborah Dunham on the occasion of their 35th anniversary with support from the Shepherd School of Music Rice University. Pierre Jalbert.

Daniel McDavitt has composed an exquisite trilogy using texts from three American greats: Ralph Waldo Emerson Abraham Lincoln and William Wordsworth. Although they can be performed individually they are most powerful as a set each with flute obbligato. The first memory from Emerson is about music and is joyful and buoyant. The second memory is from Lincoln and is more reflective about childhood. The final memory by Wordsworth combines the thoughts of the previous two in a mature understanding. A delightful trilogy for high school choirs.Daniel McDavitt has composed an exquisite trilogy using texts from three American greats: Ralph Waldo Emerson Abraham Lincoln and William Wordsworth. African-American poet Countee Cullen is the text source Rosephanye has chosen to set to music and one understands why when the words are read. The title is used as a litany response Christ is born today to other words that lift up the downtrodden in stark words without apology. Christ must and will come to his own is how it ends. Rosephanye's music captures a flavor that respects the difficulties of her ethnic heritage. It is a wonderful and powerful statement in so many ways.African-American poet Countee Cullen is the text source Rosephanye has chosen to set to music and one understands why when the words are read. Two contrasting movements in a modern style Allegro – The first of two movements for wind quintet composed for a concert in London in 2017 and given its premiere by the award-winning London Myriad Ensemble. The mood is lively dance-like bucolic with regular shifts in tonality and frequent harmonic twists. Short motifs dart cheekily from instrument to instrument and are occasionally interrupted by more sedate passages before hurrying to a brusque conclusion. Adagio – In contrast to the first bustling movement this is calm reflective and touched with a certain melancholy exploiting the darker fuller colours of the cor anglais and alto flute to evoke a distant landscape. After an initial climax a flute solobegins a faster section underpinned by a strong rhythmic figure in the other instruments. With more instruments adding their voices a sharp upward surge brings the section to a sudden close ushering in a return to the opening theme this time given to the clarinet. Echoes of the earlier flute solo add further layers rising to a full-throated climax of the main theme and thence to a peaceful close.
