The song Bist du bei mir geh’ ich mit Freuden zum Sterben und zu meiner Ruh’ (BWV 508) was composed by Johann Sebastian Bach for his second wife Anna Magdalena (1701-1760) who he married in 1721.The popularity of this song is probably due to the magnificent sensitive melody that fits wonderfully with the text in which a loved one is told that even death is beautiful “as long as you are there with me.” This beautiful arrangement by Jacob de Haan is suitable for use in any concert.

Baritone Songs-The New Imperial Edition of Solo Songs has been designed as a chronological anthology of song from the Lutenists down to the present day. As other albums will be devoted exclusively to operatic and oratorio arias these are generally omitted from the present volumes.Manifestly the selection must be indicative rather than comprehensive or merely exclusive and is essentially practical not personal. Each song is briefly annotated and except where indicated appears in the original key or is set for the voice which it is normally associated.Apart from obvious restrictions the choice has been largely determined by certain positive needs. To provide the singing teacher andstudent alike with a working catalogue as a basis for more specialized research into the varied treasure of the literature of song; to give the festival committees and examination bodies a ready way of governing without unduly restricting the dangerous freedom of choice classes; to present the would-be accompanist with a convenient means of studying the many-sided aspects of the exacting technique; and lastly to offer to all singers whether amateur or professional a practical and logical conspectus of the diversities of lyrical song over a period of some three hundred years. If in addition these books will do something to combat the present-day weakness for vocal exhibitionism or narrow eclecticism the labour of their preparation will be doubly justified. The New Imperial edition of Solo Songs has been designed as a chronological anthology of song from the Lutenists down to the present day. As other albums will be devoted entirely to operatic and oratorio arias these have generally been omitted from the present volumes. For Baritone Voice with Piano accompaniment.

Der Himmel lacht! Die Erde jubilieret BWV 31 (The Heavens laugh the earth exults in gladness) BWV 31 Cantata for the 1st Easter Day Performance material (BA10031) vocal score (BA10031-90) & study score (TP1031) available for sale The text by Salomon Franck who was the librettist of some of Bach's the best-known cantatas is closely linked to the account of Easter and recalls the jubilation at the resurrection of Jesus. Our editions of Bach Cantatas offer the authoritative text of the New Bach Edition meeting Bärenreiter Urtext standards. No group of works in Johann Sebastian Bach’s output is as wide-ranging as the cantatas. This is hardlysurprising considering that for over five years Bach was required to compose a work or at least re-work an existing one for every Sunday and festival of the church year as well as for numerous secular occasions such as council inaugurations school and university celebrations and royal birthdays. Unfortunately not all cantatas have survived. However over 200 sacred and secular works exist and form a corpus of works suitable for all possible occasions. This rich musical heritage is still as relevant today as it was then.

Cantata for the 4th Sunday of Advent- The cantata Bereitet die Wege is one of the few works by Johann Sebastian Bach of which we know fairly well how it came into being. The autograph full score bears the date 1715; Bach therefore composed the piece for the church service given by the Weimar court orchestra (of which he was the concert master) on 22 December the fourth Sunday in Advent in the year 1715. We even know the author of the words: it was the High Ecclesiastical Secretary in Weimar Salomon Franck who wrote the poem especially for that occasion and had it printed in his annual cycle of cantata texts entitled Evangelisches Andachtsopfer.

This study score of Franz Schubert 's complete string trios (Violin Viola and Violoncello) takes its text from the New Schubert Edition. It also includes Schubert 's very first essay in the genre which only resurfaced in 1997: the draft trio in B-flat major D 111A (1814). Besides this draft two other trios in B-flat major written a short while later have come down to us: D 471 and D 581. The first is likewise a fragment as it breaks off in m. 39 of the second movement. D 581 survives in two versions the first based on the autograph score the second on a set of parts prepared and thoroughly revised by Schubert . Both versionsprovide useful performance alternatives that differ widely in their form rhythm articulation and dynamics. - All of Schubert 's string trios - All drafts and alternative versions for the first time in a study score - Urtext from the New Schubert Edition Contents: - Trio in B-flat major D 471 (movement 1) - Trio in B-flat major D 581 (versions 1 and 2) - Incomplete first movement to Trio in B-flat major D 111A - Incomplete second movement to Trio in B-flat major D 471
