Clear presentation of orchestral parts in an enlarged format 25.5 cm x 32.5 cm. “ Prélude A L’Aprés-Midi D’Un Faune ” often referred to as the first composition of the “modern” era is one of Debussy ’s most popular and frequently performed orchestral works. The piece comes down to us in an array of sources and several important ones are drawn upon for the first time in Bärenreiter’s scholarly-critical edition. Most of the currently available editions are based on the first edition from 1895 which however contains many engraver errors.When the corresponding orchestral parts are also taken into consideration countless discrepancies are revealed. Bärenreiter’s Urtext edition incorporates readings of a printed copy of the score from c. 1908 which shows corrections and emendations by the composer. These important changes found in no other source include metronome markings different pitches and additional notes as well as added tempo and articulation markings which all subtly enhance Debussy ’s finely sculpted work. There is even a breath mark added to the famous solo Flute passage which opens the work.

My setting is for men's chorus (with three brief solopassages to be sung by members of the choir) and one set of finger cymbals to be played by a chorister. Francesco Ezechiele Ermenegildo Suppe Demelli better known as Franz von Suppé (1819-1895) was the son of a Belgian father and an Austrian mother. In total he wrote some 30 operettas and Steven Verhaert selected Die schöne Galathea for his arrangement. This splendid overture is a real gem for lovers of the operetta style which is sometimes (unfairly) looked down upon.

From the Suite To Gozzi's Fairy Tale Drama-The Gozzi's Turandot - in one form or another - occupied Busoni at various times in the years 1904-1917. He was very fond of fantastical and magical tales: his immediately preceding work was the Piano Concerto Op. 39 BV247 which included music from an unfinished adaptatioon of Adam Oehlenschläger's Aladdin. In 1904 Busoni began sketching incidental music for Gozzi's Chinese fable. He also arranged a concert suite which was first performed in 1905 and published in 1906. A production of Gozzi's play with Busoni's music was mounted by Max Reinhardt in Berlin in 1911 and for the second and last time in London in 1913. This transcription of the first movement of Busoni's Turandotsuite was created for George A. Treviño and his superb Lopez High School Band of Brownsville Texas. The piece was premiered in February 2017 at the Texas Music Educators Association convention on the occasion of the Lopez band's 6A Honor Band performance.

The Tricks To Tunes series is designed for teaching mixed string instruments in groups. It is a systematic program developed over many years from many years experience teaching strings in schools. Karachi Boulevard is a piece of music is inspired by the city of Karachi in Pakistan. This composition was made according to the theme-and-variations principle.The main theme of the work consists of a whole musical scale and this immediately gives the arrangement an Oriental flavour. This theme is cleverly disguised in endless almost unrecognisable variations in a series of short interconnected fragments. Following a brief presentation of the thematic material a rhythmic allegro part in 7/8 time is played by the piccolo. Next some improvisation by the clarinet are played with vocal accompaniment by a number of inhabitants of Karachi. In the following part anextremely moody and impressionist andante breaks through the hectic confusion when a flute solo brings a totally different variation of the theme. After this variation a compelling folk dance in 3/4 time is played and the piece ends in a grand finale whereby the theme can be heard once again albeit reduced to its simplest form and enhanced by rhythmic decorations from the woodwind.Despite the many variations this exceptional piece is composed of different parts that form a logical sequence and make a very strong musical impression on the audience.
