Mais un jour les collines furent changées en rochers dénudés de toute végétation laissant place à un paysage escarpé. Le sommet enneigé de la montagne scintillait alors de mille feux sous les rayons du soleil. Parfois (sans que l'on sacheexactement quand) la montagne se métamorphosait : la neige fondait et la montagne crachait des flammes et de la fumée mettant le feu aux bois et dirigeant des pierres brûlantes sur les Mapuches (un peuple du Chili). Deux tribus vivaient près de cette montagne et leurs luttes incessantes détruisaient l’environnement. Dieu força les deux chefs des deux tribus à regarder la destruction de cette montagne que leurs guerres avaient provoquée. Ils furent frappés d’une punition éternelle et changés en pierre.
