This study score of Franz Schubert 's complete string trios (Violin Viola and Violoncello) takes its text from the New Schubert Edition. It also includes Schubert 's very first essay in the genre which only resurfaced in 1997: the draft trio in B-flat major D 111A (1814). Besides this draft two other trios in B-flat major written a short while later have come down to us: D 471 and D 581. The first is likewise a fragment as it breaks off in m. 39 of the second movement. D 581 survives in two versions the first based on the autograph score the second on a set of parts prepared and thoroughly revised by Schubert . No group of works in Johann Sebastian Bach ’s output is aswide-ranging as the cantatas. This is hardly surprising considering that for over five years Bach was required to compose a work or at least re-work an existing one for every Sunday and festival of the church year as well as for numerous secular occasions such as council inaugurations school and university celebrations and royal birthdays. Unfortunately not all cantatas have survived. However over 200 sacred and secular works exist and form a corpus of works suitable for all possible occasions. This rich musical heritage is still as relevant today as it was then.

D 944- The series of symphonies in the New Schubert Edition is a milestone of modern scholarly-critical editing lending these works a transparency lacking in earlier editions of a more romantic bent. The eight symphonies trace Schubert 's artistic evolution from the First Symphony which develops a theme from Beethoven's Eroica to the Mozartean Fifth and the romanticism of the 'Great' Eighth. Elegy for Band-The initial idea was for a millennium piece which it is but rather than add to the many celebratory pieces that have understandably been written to salute the 3rd millennium Philip Sparke thought it would perhaps be appropriate to think about the aspects of life that are constantly with us (such as faith and philosophy) rather than the exciting changes that the year 2000 has undeniably wrought.
