The works included in the Hugo Parry Organ Album Book 1 are the Fantasia and Fugue published 1912 and related to earlier versions from 1877 and1882 Chorale Fantasia on Old 100th and the magnificent Elegy for 7 April 1913 for the funeral of Sidney 14th Earl of Pembroke.The later years of Organist teacher and composer Hubert Parry’s life were a fruitful time of composition and academic output. In these three works his commitment to diatonic music and his assimilation of both Brahms and indigenous British music are apparent as well as his mastery and understanding of his instrument.

The Augustin in questions is a ballad singer and an ad lib poet who apparently wrote this folksong about himself. His grim sense of humour and his attitude towards life that humour can get you through anything are readily apparent in this new piece. Gerald Oswald’s Variations on an Austrian Folk Song received top honours at the 2010 Austrian Composition Contest.

Song Of Songs was first written in 2009 and arranged for chamber ensemble in 2010. The lyrics were by Andrew Hawes and the chamber version was scored for solo Soprano SATB chorus String Quintet and Harp. It is written in six movements each inspired by a section of text from the Old Testament Book of the same name. Patrick Hawes (b. 1958) is a contemporary British composer. He has been building a reputation as one of the foremost composers working in the UK today a position which was cemented when he was appointed as Classic FM’s Composer in Residence for 2006-2007.

White Winged Flight was commissioned by the association ‘Mozaïek’ the cultural collaboration of the Belgian municipalities Bonheiden Duffel Putte and Sint-Katelijne-Waver. The work is based on 4 notes that each stand for the name of the municipality. The title refers to the white-winged flight of a peace dove and is a call for reconciliation and peace. It is a brilliant piece of music in which you can hear the positive message throughout the parts. It is lively colourful and offers plenty of great playing for all instrument groups.

For Soprano Saxophone and Organ accompaniment. 'Peter Abelard was a medieval philosopher poet and musician born in France in 1079. He taught at Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris lodging with Canon Fulbert whoadmired hiswork. In time he also became tutor to Fulbert's beautiful seventeen-yearoldniece Heloïse. Abelard and Heloïse began a passionate love affair (Dance of Peter and Heloïse) which resulted in a son Astrolabe. For thesake of Abelard's position they married secretly and Canon Fulbert waspresent at their marriage. But Fulbert later reacted furiously to news that Abelard hadsent Heloïse to a convent believing that he had abandoned her infavour of his owncareer. In revenge he had Abelard castrated (Revenge of Canon Fulbert). After his mutilation Abelard became a monk and he and Heloïse remained constantcorrespondents for the remainder of his life. Hecomposed a hymnbook for Heloïse who by then was Abbess of the convent of the Paraclete. Among the hymns was avisionary poem of the New Jerusalem set to a beautiful melody in the Dorian mode O Quanta Qualia. On his death in1142 his remains were taken to the Paraclete at Heloïse's request andher body was later laid to rest in the same tomb. Finally their remains were taken toParis and in 1817 they were buried together in one sepulchre (InParadisum).
