I Shall Love But Thee is an occasional work in the literal sense of the word since it was originally written on the occasion of the composer’s youngest son’s wedding. The texts by William Shakespeare inspired Jan Van der Roost to compose profound and appealing music largely in the style of Henry Purcell (in the first part) and Georg Friedrich Handel (in the second part)—although no literal quotations have been used. The rather rare combination of soprano and fanfare band makes this piece a unique addition to the repertoire!

Carl Nielsen is doubtlessly one of Denmark’s most important and popular composers. This is no more evident than in his 1916 work for Piano Solo Chaconne Op.32 which followed a seventeen-year gap in his compositions for that instrument. It is a decidedly dynamic work in constant motion from the moment the simple opening theme begins through the crescendo and to the winding down and end of this piece. The twenty variations that form the core of this piece themselves have a varied range sometimes comparatively easy showing Bach’s influence other times he uses highly complex contrasts. This is a fine example of Nielsen’s work and uses mood and texture to great effect makingit ideal for concert or recital performance whilst the variations make it a clever training manual. Another title in this popular series with dual versions of 10 well-known Christmas Carols to give wider access to pupils of all ages. The initial versions are generally straightforward while the second presents a more up-dated and sometimes up-tempo version to give variety and a fresh approach to some familiar tunes. Intended for teacher and pupil in many of these carols the pupil's left hand part is optional widening the scope of these arrangements to suit relative beginners or even to include use with other instruments.

Sacred was originally part of a Mass setting in which the composer combined the traditional Latin Mass movements with elements from the Sami yoik tradition other Norwegian folk music and traditional Finnish music. This version for upper voices was recorded by Cantus on their album Northern Lights and is very approachable for choirs of all abilities. There are no words only yoik syllables' with no meaning for which a pronunciation guide is included. Fjellheim's distinctive and approachable musical language which many will recognise from the use of his music at the opening of Disney's Frozen will appeal to both singers andaudience.

Sonata for Trombone and Piano No 2 Opus 342 has three movements. In the first two outer energetic sections flank a lyrical central episode. The second movement is one continuous melody in compound time. The finale is in sonata form with a lively first subject and a more tuneful second. There is a fugato section at the end of the development. Born in 1941 the British composer Derek Bourgeois gained a doctorate at Cambridge before spending two years at the Royal College of Music where he studied composition with Herbert Howells and conducting with Sir Adrian Boult. Bourgeois has composed seventeen symphonies twelve concertos and a considerable quantity of chamber vocal and instrumental music as well as twelve extended works for Brass Band and five symphonies for Symphonic Wind Orchestra. Sonata For Trombone No 2 Op. 342 is a lively and energetic piece made up of three movements composed for Trombone bass clef and Piano. This edition includes a solo part in trebleclef.

The champagne cellars of Mercier in Epernay were the source of inspiration for this composition. The title has been aptly chosen: Cin Cin means ‘cheers’ in Italian. The various themes and melodies refer to different aspects of the champagne production and especially to the specific cellars of the Champagne region. A remarkable sparkling composition. Cheers!
