Complete Works for Piano-This new completely revised and reset centenary edition of Satie’s complete piano music in three volumes has returned to Satie’s manuscripts and first editions to give pianists completely accurate and reliable texts to play from. As well aspresenting every piece for piano solo or piano reduction that Satie published this edition also includes some previously unknown pieces like the Petite Sonate that he wrote for Vincent d’Indy at the Schola Cantorum as well as some interestingfirst versions of well-known pieces like San Bernardo a trial version of Españaña (1913) and the markedly different first version of Les Pantins dansent (1914). In addition there areexamples of the different types of exercises that Satie completedat the Schola between 1905 and 1912 some extra trial Enfantines and some earlier drafts of his famous Sports et divertissements. To help pianists suggested metronome marks have been added throughout and there are also some performance suggestionsfor the Rose+Croix pieces of the 1890s which otherwise appear to be all quiet and slow. The notation has been made as user-friendly as possible without detracting from Satie’s concerns about the “extériorisation” of his musical thought in print.

Johann Sebastian Bach’s three great cycles of suites belong to the fundamental canon of piano literature: the Partitas and the so-called English and French Suites. It is the French Suites that have long been by far the most popular – and this was also the case at the time that they were written. However this also creates problems for an editor preparing an Urtext edition because a vast number of copies of them were made by Bach’s circle of pupils and these contain many presumably authentic variants. In this revised Henle Urtext edition Ullrich Scheideler explains the complicated source situation with exemplary clarity. He lists the more minor source variants in footnotes;where there are major differences both versions of individual movements are printed in full. Evening Hymn by Bob Chilcott for SAB and Piano. Chilcott has re-scored this serene reflective anthem originally for upper voices for SAB making it accessible to choirs with a limited number of male voices. A rich addition to the Choral Evensong repertory the anthem presents an artful juxtaposition of an original setting of William Fuller's 'Evening Hymn' most famously set by Henry Purcell with the plainsong melody for the Latin hymn 'Te lucis ante terminum' in J. M. Neale's English translation.

The basis for the musical text of this study score was Henle’s revised edition of Part I published in 1997 and Yo Tomita’s brand new revision of Part II (spring 2007). Band II-The variation genre occupied Beethoven his whole artistic life. Collected in the second volume of G. Henle Publishers’ complete edition of Piano variations are compositions from his middle and later Vienna years written between 1799 and 1823. Among them are groundbreaking works such as the two sets of variations on original themes opp. 34 and 35 the Variations in C minor WoO 80 and as the final crown jewel the Diabelli Variations op. 120. The revised musical text of the Urtext edition with an extensive foreword and commentary was prepared on the basis of the subsequent Critical Apparatus of the Beethoven Complete Edition. The fingering suggestions stem fromthe competent hand of Ian Fountain.
