The Nativity displays Eric Thiman’s grasp of the abilities of amateur and church choirs in his use of themes from familiar hymns and his harmonies and employment of Vocal Quartet or Semi-Chorus. He also includes alternatives for use at Eastertide. The work is scored for Soprano and Tenor solo Chorus SATB and Organ.Eric Thiman was a 20th century composer teacher and Organist who was also an advocate of amateur music-making. He was a prolific composer of church music and Piano and Organ works and his craftsmanship and gift for melody were much admired. He was director of music at the City Temple in London. As an educator he was a professor at the Royal Academy of Music andhe wrote many books on harmony counterpoint and musical form.

Alexander's Feast was composed by Handel in 1736. The words in celebration of St Cecilia patron saint of music were written by Dryden and first set to music by Jeremiah Clarke. This ode was written for STB (or SATB) soli SATB chorus and orchestra. This version edited by Donald Burrows contains all vocal parts and a piano accompaniment.

Bantock has arranged Where the Bee Sucks for unaccompanied Voice SSA. The song Where The Bee Sucks was writtenin 1740 for the Drury Lane production of The Tempest and it has never gone out of the repertoire since that time. Composer conductor and educator Granville Bantock’s (1868 – 1946) oeuvre is reaching new audiences throughrenewed interest in the performance of his works. He was an energetic and creative personality who was key in founding the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra and championing the music of Jean Sibelius in his day.

Full Score- The first feature film collaboration between Peter Greenaway and Michael Nyman made in 1983 following a major series of short/independent films they made together - including The Falls and A Walk throughH . A draughtsman is commissioned by a landowner in the late 17th century to make 12 drawings of his property. Every note of the score was derived from the music of Purcell and was written for the Michael NymanBand . This concert suite which was made in 2001 and first performed in Hanover was specially revised for an all- Nyman concert given by the composer and the BBC Concert Orchestra at the Royal Festival Hall Londonin June 2003. Written for Orchestra and Harpsichord the suite lasts approximately 16 minutes.
