He seems to have asked his friend Joseph Haydn to write a festive thankoffering in the form of a Mass for the famous pilgrimage church of Mariazell in Styria. Haydn began the work in 1782 and recently the original parts to the Missa Cellensis were found in the organ loft of the splendid baroque church at Mariazell. Haydn's Mariazellermesse has always been one of his most popular works. The Volkstumlichkeit (which one might translate as down to-earthiness) the miraculous fusion of polyphonic forms with the language and form of the Vienna classical school - note that the Kyrie is in sonata form with shortened recapitulation and coda - the brilliant orchestration to which the trumpets and drums contribute so much festive joyousness: all these have won the hearts of audiences everywhere whenever the Mass was given. - Urtext from Joseph Haydn Werke - Full score parts and vocal score available for sale

Cantata for the Second Day of Christmas- Telemann composed “ Gelobet Seist Du Jesu Christ ” (TvWV 1:612) for his cantata cycle of 1710–11. Although scored without Brass Instruments or Timpani the brilliant festive mood of the second day of Christmas prevails. The opening chorale and the final chorus form a frame for the four solo arias of the main section (ATB). Here too the choral numbers may be and usually are taken one to a part. The Whole Earth Dances was commissioned by The Schubert Ensemble with funds gratefully received from The Schubert Ensemble Trust Spitalfields Festival New Music Commission Fund and The Steel Charitable Trust and was premiered at Spitalfields Music Festival on Monday 13th June 2016. The Whole Earth Dances is dedicated to the memory of the composer's friend talented Stage designer and Visual artist Becs Andrews who passed away in 2016. Cheryl Frances-Hoad 's The Dreams That Fly from Me for solo String Quartet and String Orchestra. Score. The Dreams That Fly From Me is a ten minute work for solo string quartet and string orchestra. It is in two movements (one slow one fast) that are played without a break. I spent ten years at the Yehudi Menuhin School (a specialist music school for string and piano) growing up so this piece cannot help but be strongly influenced by the music I played in the school orchestra during this time. In particular the work is influenced by Elgar's Introduction and Allegro Strauss's Metamorphosen (for twenty-three solo strings) and Tippett's Concerto for DoubleString Orchestra although the harmonic language of the piece (which is essentially very jazzy) helps to obscure these musical references. In terms of extra musical inspiration the work was inspired by a poem by Ivan Goll called Bloodhound which includes the lines Catch the dreams that fly off from me.... And savage the ankles of my fleeting angel I was inspired by the idea of a fleeting angel which at a time when I had been having difficulties composing seemed very poignant: the angel of the poem seemed to be a poetic representation of my inspiration.
