The Unrevealed Story of Skelte van Aysma-‘Galea et Bellum’ was commissioned by the Excelsior Schraard music society (Friesland the Netherlands). The work tells the story of a rare helmet that was discovered in a church in the Frisian village of Schettens in 2015. It uses the hymn ‘Ah how fleeting ah how insignificant’ as a leitmotif.

This splendid colourful concert work lets your band shine in every respect. The dreamlike beginning is followed by a dancing passage that grows increasingly impassioned and in which all groups have their turn in the spotlight. Afterwards the dramatic theme from the start returns to the fore with a splendid antiphon in the horns/euphoniums bringing the work to a grandiose close.

Harmony Mass- Missa B-flat Major Hob.XXII:14 'Harmony Mass' Urtext from: Joseph Haydn Werke It is well known that Joseph Haydn wrote his late masses to the commission of his last employer Prince Nicolaus II Esterhazy. The 'Harmoniemesse' is the last of these high masses all of which probably received their first performances in celebration of the name-day of Princess Maria Josepha Hermenegild the prince's wife. The present work was given for the first time on 8 September 1802 in the Bergkirche at Eisenstadt Haydn himself conducting. Haydn entitled his work simply 'Missa'. The work has acquired the name 'Harmoniemesse' by reasonof the prominent parts given to the wind instruments ('Harmonie' being a contemporary name for a wind band); the nickname did not become established until the late nineteenth century. Six Rhaeto-Romanic folk songs from Graubünden the largest canton of Switzerland form the basis for this splendid piece by Oliver Waespi. The composer reproduces these melodies almost verbatim and works them into a rhapsody. This piece is ideal for a concert or competition and especially allows for in depth work on band sound.

The piano version of the B flat major Quintet Op. 34 prepared by Carl Maria von Weber himself will no doubt cause some surprise among clarinetists as well. To this day few people know that the composer arranged his work for clarinet and piano as soon as he heard about the success of the original scoring. Weber himself a talented pianist transposed the string quartet sound to the piano in an effortless and very idiomatic manner. In Weber's version for clarinet and piano the Quintet proves to be just as suitable for concert performance as for the rehearsing of the original chamber setting. Ulrich Leisinger's source studies show that Weber very carefully followed thepublication of the first edition in 1816. Divergences from the quintet version (EB5830) are indicated in the new edition.
