Anthem- The Anthem in the post-Reformation church music of England was initially the term given to a choral work with an English biblical text. By the end of the 17th century it begins to take on Italian stylistic elements and becomes a cantata for solo voices choir and orchestra. The anthem 'O sing unto the Lord' presented here based on words of the 96th Psalm is a particularly beautiful example of the transformation of the traditional and the modern style into a unified whole. Australian born Nicolas-Charles Bochsa (1789-1856) studied at the Paris Conservatoire before embarking upon a career as a harpist and composer. His Famous Studies For Harp is well-informed and essential to progression on the instrument. Folk music plays an important role in the life of the Ukrainian people. Their country covers an area of over 600.000 square kilometres and has more than fifty million inhabitants. In the north there are vast woods in the west one finds the picturesque Carpatian mountains and valleys and in the centre and the south Ukraine has its famous steppes with fertile black soil. The river Dnjepr divides the country in two forming a natural frontier between the western and eastern regions which each have their own distinctively different musical folklore. This diversity forms the musical basis for Ukrainian Rhapsody. The work consists of three movements: the first one in a moderatetempo without a pause flows into a slow but very expressive middle movement resulting in a powerful climax. The composition ends with the Gopak: a rousing dance.

Motown is much more than a record company. From its humble beginnings in 1959 it has become a sound a style a whole movement. Founder Berry Gordy Jr. had no idea what lay ahead over the following decades as he began producing records with the likes of The Jackson 5 Marvin Gaye Diana Ross Stevie Wonder Lionel Richie and many others. Motown Story is a tribute to the unique Motown-sound and contains optional parts for piano/keyboard and the electric or bass guitar. The first part of the piece is a fanfare which is suitable for opening ceremonies and the second part is a lush chorale-like movement. Neither the author of the text nor the history of the work’s composition is known to us; and to judge by appearances the version that has come down to us is but a fragment compounded of a number of once disparate elements and gives little indication of the work’s original form. Yet the movements that have come down to us are of such uncommon musical interest that we would not want to be deprived of them just because they may be incomplete.
