La Bamba is actually an old folk song from South America. This happy dance tune first achieved worldwide success through the rock ’n’ roll singer Ritchie Valens however who in 1958 gave the song his own incomparable treatment. And it’s this version that the experienced arranger Naohiro Iwai took as the basis fort his wind orchestra version.

Schwarz tell the story of the German girl Anne Frank who lived in hidden rooms of an Amsterdam town house until her family was betrayed and deported to Auschwitz where they all - apart from herfather- went to their deaths. The composer who himself is the father of two daughters has illustrated various scenes from this young girl's short life in a dramatic and cinematic style.

Franz Liszt’s 19 Hungarian Rhapsodies are characterised by melancholy great expressiveness and wonderful gypsy rhythms. No.2 is the best known of all mainly thanks to the use of various passages for cartoon characters such as Tom andJerry Woody Woodpecker and Bugs Bunny . The whirling billowing music is accessible to a broad audience. This excellent arrangement for wind band by Franco Cesarini will doubtless enrich any concert.

March of the Marmots describes the comical creatures that emerge from their winter slumber at _x001F_first soft and hesitant then stridently march from their burrows into the sunlight. This piece is a nice challenge for any ensemble as every part is equally fun and educational. Enjoy!

The magnificent interweaving of harmonies and dialogue-like Voices in Handel 's For Unto Us A Child Is Born make it a perfect addition to the festive choral repertoire. German-born British Baroque composer George Frideric Handel originally composed this piece in 1741 for the English-language oratorio Messiah which eventually became one of the best-known and most frequently performed choral works in Western music. As the last song of Scene 3 of Part I of the oratorio which addresses Isaiah's specific prophecy about the virgin birth of a Messiah For Unto Us A Child Is Born tells the news of Christmas thebirth of a son in Isaiah's words as found in the Scripture (Isaiah 9:6). The delicate familiar theme is introduced by the Sopranos and taken up by their counter-voices the Tenors later the same dialog is given over to the Altos and Basses. The tutti culminates in 'Wonderful' 'Counselor' 'The Mighty God' 'The Everlasting Father' and 'The Prince of Peace'. As an individual piece this song arranged for SATB Voices with Piano accompaniment is perfect for Christian settings especially during the Christmas season.

In this version of Christmas Is Coming the traditional Chorus is intact but the composer has created his own verse tune and four-part harmony with humorous interpolations by the bass Voices. Walford Davies was a composer and musical director at the University of Wales as well as Organist at among others Temple Church in London where his student Leopold Stokowski (later one of the leading conductors of the 20th century) assisted him. Davies is best remembered for this work and for the march RAF March Past'. Davies also did much to educate the public about serious music through radio programmes and his writings.

Even 40 years after his death Louis Armstrong remains one of the most popular jazz trumpeters and singers of all time. In Louis Armstrong Medley Naohiro Iwai has beautifully arranged Armstrong’s unmistakable version of the Russian folk song Dark Eyes (1954). This is then followed by two of his greatest hits: the jazz standard Georgia on My Mind (1930) which features a tenor saxophone solo and When You’re Smiling (1929).
