Media Comments:(...)A publication that is relevant and enjoyable to use on your own as it is in a tutorial setting is a rare thing indeed but wonderfully achieved here by Richard Graf in his book of duos Guitar for Two. Entertaining titles of original works include Mission Possible (an entertaining spoof version of Mission Impossible) and Reggae for Carmen (an amusing mix of Stevie Wonder’s Masterblaster and the Habañera from Carmen) as well as other more traditional arrangement of tunes such as Danny Boy and House of the Rising Sun. The relatively simple top line combined with the more detailed accompaniment offers a range of challenges which will make this book of usethroughout the easy to intermediate stages of learning the guitar. A CD included allowing accompanied performance of the pieces at home. Although the CD is performed on steel-strung guitars this book is nevertheless also perfectly relevant for classical guitarists. Like the Littlemore Tractus Pärt's setting of the Salve Regina has an extended hymn-like feel to it. Typically it builds very gradually to a late majestic climax - unison vocal lines at the outset broader harmonies later some intriguing eccentricities in the organ part along the way. It was the wish of Hubert Luthe Bishup of Essen Cathedral that this particular text be set in honour of the building's priceless golden Madonna. The premiere was in May 2002 to mark both the Bishop's seventy-fifth birthday and Essen's own 1150th anniversary.

Light Overture - A Symphonic Entertainment was composed by Poul Ruders in 2006. Commissioned by the Alabama Symphony Orchestra and Music Director and Principal Conductor Justin Brown for Alabama Power Company's 100 Year Anniversary Concert. Light Overture subtitled A Symphonic Entertainment is a short piece for symphony orchestra lasting approximately eight minutes. Light Overture is focusing on two interpretations of the word light: light as in the absence of darkness and light as in easily comprehensible in other words a piece with few or no metaphysical connotations. It is just a piece setting a festive mood as is often thecase with this sort of short concert opener . However the journey through Light Overture is not entirely happy-go-lucky. Once in a while slightly darker colours are introduced for the sake of variety and contrast. And formally the composition is quite strict: an outright Prelude and Fugue the former sliding seamlessly into the latter. Setting Of Dover Beach-This dramatic setting of Matthew Arnold's vivid poem Dover Beach for high voice and piano treats the performers as equal partners and reflects the seamless blend of continuity and change reflected in the poem. Lasting 8-9 minutes this is a challenging but worthwhile and moving recital piece.
