His output includes several hundred compositions for the most diverse instrumentations. In Powhatan County and Song of the James-Powhatan County Virginia was named after the great Native-American Chief Powhatan whose confederacy of tribes once dominated the costal Virginia plain. He is most remembered for being the father of Pocahontas. His people are best known as the Native Americans who helped the Jamestown colonists survive. Several of these original tribes still exist today. The composer was inspired by the essence of this region and the James River which borders the northern portion of the county.

Frédéric Devreese is one of Belgium�s most well-known composers. His international reputation is based on his varied repertoire including film music orchestral pieces and piano concertos. Frédéric Devreese has transcribed many of his orchestral works for wind band. He is now adapting his film score from the renowned film �Benvenuta� by Belgian filmmaker André Delvaux (1926-2002) and is compiling a magnificent suite. The �Benvenuta� suite is the first of a series of prestigious Frédéric Devreese transcriptions which will appear at BERIATO.
