for SATB unaccompanied This gutsy folk-inspired Advent carol is original and contemporary without losing the raw fervour of its medieval model. With its rhythm punchy and driven and its harmony strong and bare the piece demands great energy from the performers. Another classic from the legendery Bob Chilcott. Written for David Hill and The Bach Choir in celebration of the 80th birthday of Sir David Willcocks this hard and folksy song is arranged for SATB choir a cappella.

This book is for beginning and early intermediate mandolin players and no prior playing experience or note reading ability is required. The solos are written in both standard notation and tablature and whilst writing the arrangements the author considered the small hands of children. Each tune is in the first position and there are no stretches that present inordinate technical difficulties. Every song in the book is included on the companion CD. The tunes are recorded at a moderate speed and include count-off notes and rhythm guitar accompaniment. This book is for beginning and early intermediate mandolin players and no prior playing experience or note reading ability is required. The “Little Organ Book” perhaps the most celebrated collection ever of chorale preludes owes its title to J.S. Bach’s application for the post of Cantor at St Thomas’ Church in Leipzig. Lacking an academic degree Bach wanted to demonstrate his qualifications as a teacher through his compositions – including his Inventions Sinfonias and the “Well Tempered Klavier”. This also led him to append a misleading title to the most ambitious project of his time at Weimar: he called this collection of chorale preludes - originally meant to number 164 pieces - pieces for an “aspiring organist”. In fact the 44 completed compositions of the “Little Organ Book” are demanding masterpieceswhich give an impressive display of the full range of the so-called short chorale prelude. This new critical edition returns for the first time to the format of the principal sources dating from Bach’s time in that most of the pieces are reproduced on two systems rather than three. POD-Nico Muhlys Stabat Mater Dolorosa for Soprano Baritone and Ensemble. Parts. My Stabat Mater is a very simply-constructed piece of music. I knew I wanted to write a duet a piece of religious music and something to go along with a bit of Birtwistle. My initial instinct was to base the piece on drones as Birtwistles musichas so very many notes but then I decided that an austere but ecstatic approach was the best to fill a coherent evening. I asked my friend Craig Lucas to paraphrase the Stabat Mater text - which describes the Virgin Mary weeping at the foot of thecross on which her son is crucified. The piece is organised by separating each phrase of the text with a moment of silence with the exception of the last three which are joined with a frenzied chorale with improvised dynamics from the Harp Windand Strings. - Nico MuhlyInstrumentation: Soprano and Baritone voice Flute Clarinet in Bb Harp Violin Viola and Violoncello. King Arthur (Arr. Laurie)- King Arthur was the only one of Purcell's professionally produced operas to have been designed as a semi-opera; the others were all adaptations of earlier plays. Dryden made a real attempt to integrate the music into the drama but since he ascribed to the dramatic conventions of the period which virtually confined music to allegorical or supernatural beings and thier worshippers or servants shepherds and similar characters the main action mostly occurs in the spoken sections and even the two singing characters Philidel and Grimbald speak more than they sing.

incl. Christian Petzold: Suite de Clavecin-The 1725 Notebook of Anna Magdalena Bach is chiefly famous for pieces such as the two minuets in G major and G minor (Nos. 4 and 5 in the present collection) and the Aria di Giovannini. These three indeed the majority of the pieces were not composed by J. S. Bach but by other often fairly unknown musicians. Though begun by her husband Anna Magdalena Bach compiled the Notebook for her own domestic use. A definite asset to the collection is the Suite de Clavecin by Christian Petzold organist at the Dresden court which contains the two minuets mentioned above. Moj e Bukura Moré (My Beautiful Morea) has its origin in Southern Italy in Calabria where an Albanian community has lived for more than 500 years and so has the song! The tenderness of the melodic lines expresses the natural beauty of the distant homeland which according to legend can be seen from the Calabrian mountain-tops. As in most folk songs this tune is remarkably short; the melody itself has not been altered but has been extended enriched in texture and presented in different ways. The melodic lines serve as a point of departure for the proliferation of a distinct harmonic vocabulary. © TS Moj e Bukura Moré (My Beautiful Morea) has its origin in Southern Italy in Calabria where an Albanian community has lived for more than 500 years and so has the song!
