Sacred Cantata- In the words of Karl Wilhelm Ramler this cantata is one of the most beautiful Christmas compositions of the 18th century. Written for a performance in 1759 it combines festive trumpet sounds with moving chorale settings. Telemann has used his musical resources with moderation and restraint allowing the chorus to appear at the central passages in both sections and painting an unobtrusive pastoral background for the Christmas setting. A worthy alternative in any Christmas concert. Our edition contains an English translation of the German text in an appendix and follows the Urtext of the Telemann Edition (vol. 30) thereby providing a reliabletext reflecting the latest findings of scholarship. In this composition which consists of three parts the world and life of children is the composer�s leitmotiv. Part 1 suggests the untamed creativity of the child in a virtuoso and dynamic allegro. Part 2 is a quiet protest against the indifference and the injustice that many children still experience. Jacques Ibert (1890-1962) studied at the Paris Conservatoire before embarking upon a successful composing career. The composer wrote for a variety of instrumentations and his works remain popular to this day Aria for Flute (or Oboe) Clarinet and Piano being no exception. Composed in 1927 and revised in 1930 Aria is suitable for advanced level woodwind players. Ibert was a unique composer who did not associate himself with any particular style. His music is generally lighthearted often reflecting the composer's wit and humour. Containing a variety of musical aspects and techniques and beingsignificantly very rhythmic Ibert 's woodwind duet Aria is an exciting addition to the advanced Flute Oboe and Clarinet repertoire.

Allein Gott in der Höh sei Ehr- Allein Gott in der Höh sei Ehr (Gloire à ton Nom) est une hymne chrétienne universellement connue. Elle est à la fois une louange à la Gloire de Dieu et l’expression de la gratitude des Hommes. Cet arrangement pour Fanfare réalisé par Wim Stalman est basé sur la mélodie de ce choral. Fidèle au sens du texte du cantique Grace and Glory (“Gloire et Grâce”) nous transmet par des sonorités brillantes et douces la ferveur des louanges et la gratitude profonde de la communauté chrétienne. Chorale-motet- Lobe den Herren den mächtigen Konig der Ehren Op.6/2 I Chorale-motet for Mixed choir (SATB) Hugo Distler born on the 24th June 1908 in Nuremberg and died on the 1st November 1942 in Berlin was a German organist choral conductor teacher and composer. He studied at the Leipzig Conservatory moving to Berlin in 1940 where he became Director of the Berlin National and Cathedral Choir.

Ballade for Alto Saxophone and Piano was composed in 1938 by the French composer Henri Tomasi (1901-1971). Introduced by a poem by Suzanne Mallard his wife Ballade is a 15-minute work that covers and alternates between different styles such as Andantino Guigue and Blues. The poem refers to a clown who claims his story to the night. It is a short poem of four verses composed with rhymes in A/B/A/B formation. Henri Tomasi who won the Grand Prix de Rome in 1927 also composed a variety of concertos for Alto Saxophone for Trumpet and for Trombone as well as some ballades.

for flute clarinet percussion piano violin and cello- Subtilior Lamento is a piece that draws some inspiration from the music of the so-called ‘Ars Subtilior’ movement of the fourteenth century. This early music features rhythmic complexities linear ornamentation and harmonic intricacy. In my piece I use canon to create textures that are at constant rhythmic unrest. Harmonies arise out of linear lines: lines I constructed to work in defining my harmonic world. This hot choral version of an American classic wonderfully arranged by Jay Althouse is appropriate for school use and young choir use. A solid rhythmic accompaniment with exciting harmonies but voice writing is not difficult.

Lent and Easter Cantatas- 72 Solo Cantatas for Voice Melodic Instrument and Basso continuo. Lent & Easter - High Voice . When Telemann issued his first annual cycle of printed cantatas Der Harmonische Gottesdienst (Hamburg 1725-6) he was already one of the leading cantata composers of his time. Thanks to their brevity and their simple scoring the 72 solo cantatas have remained very popular to the present day. These editions (BA 5891 through to BA 5896) divide the annual cycle into cantatas for high voice and cantatas for medium voice. Each series spreads the works over threevolumes accompanied by separate parts for solo instrument and continuo. The cantatas follow the order of the liturgical year beginning with the Christmas season and continuing with Easter and Trinity. Being practically minded Telemann arranged the ambitus of the vocal parts so that the cantatas for medium voice are also suitable for an ordinary alto or bass'. Similarly the solo instruments are suitable for Violin Oboe Recorder or Flute. Interesting solo cantatas for use in church services. Urtext from the Telemann Edition.
