This short processional was designed to be played as a concert opener but can equally be used as a sort of extended fanfare at presentations graduation ceremonies and similar occasions. Its title evokes the noble grandeur of the university buildings in the English town of Cambridge where ?pomp and circumstance? are still a normal part of life.A fanfare-like passage opens and closes the work and sandwiches a more legato central section.

Fantasy in D minor (No. 1) was written in 1957 by one of the most effectual composers of the twentieth century Miloslav Kabela (1908-1979) on the initiative of the prominent Czech organist Ji í Reinberger (1914-1977). It was the composer's first work for solo organ and he later confessed that … my love of the organ began with this Fantasy and did not end. He composed Fantasy in D minor in the same year that he completed his cult classics Mysterium asu (Mystery of Time) and Symphony No. 3 (with organ) and the piece soon became a staple of organ repertoire at home andabroad. The following year he composed Fantasy in G minor (No. 2) by commission for the 1st International Organ Competition of Prague Spring 1958. Although Kabela joined both fantasies into one opus 32 they had as yet been published separately. The present edition is the first to include the whole of Op. 32 in one volume. This symphony is the most important work of Spanish composer Teo Aparicio-Barberán. Its fields resemble smooth green lawns(maintained by the grazing red cattle and woolly sheep) and its forests are home to deer and songbirds. The area is protected by an unsurmountable stone wall and is impossible to enter except by the grace of Odin. It is here at High Nest in Val-hall that Odin sits on his throne and surveys all those in his dominion.
