The entire four movements of Henry Eccles' Sonata in G Minor for ViolonCello and Piano remain in the key of G minor with many long expressive phrases and some moments of fleet-fingered delight.Henry Eccles was a Violinist and composer of the Baroque era who was a musician to King William and Queen Mary and a member of the Royal Band of Queen Anne. The Duke d'Aumont brought him to Paris where he entered the service of King Louis XIV. In 1720 Eccles published a book of sonatas for Violin and figured bass from which renowned English composer Malcolm Lipkin has created this arrangement for Cello and Piano.

The greatest French organist of his day Widor (1844–1937) composed 10 organ 'symphonies'—actually solo compositions usually consisting of 6 or 7 short movements that treat the organ as a kind of self-contained orchestra. Series II includes Symphonies 6-8 Symphonie Gothique and Symphonie Romane frequently performed today. Also includes a glossary of French terms.

Waldkircha in Musica- Jubilate’s main theme comes from the Gregorian chant on the Psalm Jubliate Deo omnis terra. The work itself was inspired by the sacredhistory of the Waldkirch (a forest village) community located on the Swiss/German boarder. It tells a tale of the Irish and Scottish monks who build the first wooden church at the site of what is now Waldkirch of the dramatic events good and bad that have taken place over the centuries and of the flourishing community that has withstood the trials of time.

Isaac Albeniz (1860-1909) began his musical life as a piano prodigy in Barcelona at the age of four and it is as a prolific composer of solo works for the pianoforte that we must celebrate him most. This Dover edition presents two of Albeniz' best known works in authoritative editions: the piano suite Iberia generally considered to be his masterpiece; and the album leaves Espana which contain the 'Tango' his most popular individual work. Iberia is a collection of twelve musical scenes of Spanish life principally Andalusian written between 1906 and 1909. Its brilliant and complex character is suffused with the rhythms and harmonies of Spanish popular music to which Albenizturned for inspiration in the last years of his life. Espana an earlier work first published in 1890 is made up of six piano pieces that subtly reflect the influences of the piano literature of the 19th century-salon and like Iberia the harmony and style of Impressionism which Albeniz undeniably helped to establish.

'Gypsy Boogie'.

The full score for this large work for Orchestra Mezzo-Soprano soloist and chorus was written in 1999 as part of the New York Philharmonic's Millenium commission. Characteristic of Ades the Orchestral writing is dense and challenging set against an unusual and startling vibrato-less solo voice. As the title suggests the work gained further significance since the turn of the Millenium. However from a musical perspective the score represents a significant example of 21st Century Orchestral composition.

from Requiem opus 48-Pie Jesu is the famous aria for soprano and orchestra from Gabriel Fauré’s Requiem opus 48. Fauré (1845- 1924) composed the work in 1887 two years after his father’s death and only a short time before his mother passed away. Fauré’s Pie Jesu is richly atmosphere and peaceful and Robert van Beringen perfectly captures the essence of Fauré’s beautiful music in this arrangement for concert band.

for Soprano Solo and Band-The hymn Nun ruhen alle Wälder (Now All Forests Rest) arranged by J.S. Bach (No. 6 So sei nun Seele deine from Cantata BWV 13) is a guiding light throughout this four-movement composition. Pütz wrote this work as a musical outcry against the wilful profit-driven destruction of our environment. When Bach used the word “ruhen” (to rest) over 350 years ago it probably had a different nuance from the meaning it has today. At the beginning of the 21st century - the so-called age of progress - “nun ruhen alle Wälder” should mean “now all forests die” . Massive industrialization and globalization coupled with pure greed corruption political scandals an ever-wideninggap between the rich and poor and other such senseless human actions are pushing our blue planet closer and closer to the point of no return. This work is not intended to be a ranting accusation. It should remind us of the beauty and harmony that can exist all around us in nature if we take care of it. Pütz hopes that this will one day help put a greater emphasis on humanity’s survival and coexistence with nature rather than the exploitation described earlier. All four texts were created by Australian poet Graeme King whose works were discovered by Pütz by chance on the internet. Pütz was especially captivated by King’s clarity and intrigued by the possibilities of adapting and melding the strong rhythmical structure of King’s writing with his own musical language. The four movements are as follows: 1. Tears of Nature 2. Grrrevolution 3. Stand up! 4. Tomorrow The world première of Four Earth Songs took place on 7 July 2009 at the 14th WASBE-Conference in Cincinnati (USA). This work is dedicated in friendship to Jouke Hoekstra conductor and the Frysk Fanfare Orkest (the Frisian Fanfare-Orchestra).

After he had survived a heavy sea storm John Newton (1725-1807) captain of a slave ship became a priest and from then on he fought for the abolition of slavery. During his tenure he wrote several hymns of which Amazing Grace certainly is the best known. The melody assumedly derives from a song by the African slaves. Takashi Hoshide has written a compelling arrangement of this beautiful melody.

Faced with the daunting legacy of Beethoven's symphonic works Brahms took twenty years to shape his first symphony- a masterpiece that premiered in 1876 to great critical acclaim.
