Volume 1- Olivier Messiaen (1908-1992) is known for his unique composition style. Incorporating complex rhythms harmony melodies and his passion for ornithology his éclairs Sur L'Au-Delà for Orchestra is no exception to the composer's popular distinctive style. Composed between 1987-1991 éclairs Sur L'Au-Delà was one of the composer's last works with the premiere occuring six months after his death. The work includes Messiaen 's popular compositional techniques such as his modes of limited transposition and the use of birdsong. Messiaen 's piece for orchestra is divided in to eleven movements and a typical performance lasts about one hour. éclairs Sur L'Au-Delà is essential to all advanced orchestras seeking to expand and vary their repertoire.

D'après Les Elfes de Leconte de Lisle- French harpist and composer Henriette Renié (1875-1956) lived in poverty for much of her life. However this did not stop her from composing significant works for the Harp including Legende D'Apres Les Elfes inspired the poem of the same name by French poet Leconte de Lisle. Despite being a talented composer Renié lived at a time where fame and success was socially unacceptable for women. In 1903 she composed her substantial work for Harp Legende D'Apres Les Elfes. As a highly virtuosic work this Renié piece displays use of cadenza passages exploitation of tonality complex rhythms and variety in performance directions. For advanced harpists Renié 's Legende D'Apres Les Elfes is an exciting and varied addition to the repertoire.

Both Marcel Galiègue and Jérôme Naulais studied the Trombone at the Paris Conservatoire. Both musicians have performed in a large number of concerts and recordings and have taken part in many international Master Classes. The Last Judgment is a through-composed symphonic tableau that follows the structure of the text of Matthew underlining it in a figuralistic manner. Other scriptural references are also to be found: an image of the sun that turns dark (Acts of the Apostles 2: 20) and before the gathering of the nations twelve chords representing the thrones for the judgment of the twelve tribes of Israel (Matthew 19: 28). The thematic material combines original figures with Gregorian chant: the Gloria from the Missa de Angelis; the Alleluia of the Epiphany; Dies irae the sequence from the Requiem Mass; In paradisum theburial antiphon. The sections in recitative style follow the declamatory rhythm of the corresponding verses in Arabic the composer's mother tongue. Finally the registration requires a symphonic style organ such as the Goll organ in Memmingen Germany at which the composer prepared the orchestral expression of this work.
