This unusual work depicts the transformation of matter from solid to liquid and eventually to gas. A single theme appears dense and rigid in the opening in the middle section lyrical and then in a turbulent finale it dissolves into tiny fragments.

At The Boar's Head (Op. 42) is an opera by Gustav Holst described by the composer as 'A Musical Interlude In One Act'. The libretto also by Holst is taken from Shakespeare's plays Henry IV Part 1 and Henry IV Part 2 . It was written in 1924 based on folk songs and traditional country dance tunes and first performed in 1925. Gustav Holst (1874-1934) was an English composer and teacher. Having studied under Stanford and Parry he became a close friend of Vaughan Williams – they would often critique each other’s work – and influenced composers such as Tippet and Britten. He is best remembered for his Planets suite.

Commissioned by Furman University for the inauguration of its 12th president Jay Bocook's Gloriana is based on The Faerie Queene an incomplete English epic poem written by Edmund Spenser and dedicated to Queen Elizabeth I. In the poem Queen Elizabeth is represented as the faerie queene herself Gloriana. This stately work for winds and percussion has a regal quality enhanced by soaring melodies and punctuated with fanfare-like brass figures. This piece combines an anonymous (possibly Elizabethan) text with Romans 6:8-11. While suitable for any Sunday the passage from Romans makes it especially useful in liturgical churches for the later Sundays in Eastertide.

This Christmas classic was a hit in the early sixties with its surf rock feel and light-hearted lyrics of Santa's beloved sleigh. The song coined and originally sung by the Beach Boys is a fun take on the traditional Christmas carol. Here arranged for SATB with Piano Accompaniment. Sleigh bells optional!

This version of Cortè ge Et Litanie by Marcel Dupré was written for Organ. For upper intermediate players these 8 page composition is written with 4 sharps and includes the use of the pedals. The piece initially written for a small orchestra in 1922 was created for a play. Dupré integrated it into one of his Piano recitals and was later asked to arrange it for other instruments. These scores therefore exist also arranged for Piano Orchestra (in 4 and 16) and for the conductor. In terms of composition the piece is divided into two: Cortège which titledescribes a solemn procession begins in E major and lasts twice as long as the introductory theme; and Litanie which is describing the prayer sung during a procession and which follows the Cortège part to then be joined by it. Marcel Dupré is a French composer and virtuoso organist who won the Prix de Rome in 1914. He became famous when he played the work of Bach in its totality from memory in 1920. He later became the professor of many renowned students at the Paris Conservatoire such as Messiaen Langlais and Cochereau among others.

8 Timeless Pieces Arranged for String Quartet- Vivaldi was a prolific composer very much a string composer but also responsible for a wide variety of other work. This selection includes extracts from The Seasons - arguably the composer's most well-known work as well as other less well-known vocal and instrumental music.
