When writing his tuba concerto Philip Sparke wanted to create a work which explored the many aspects of the instrument’s technical and vocal qualities but without resorting to caricature. The result is a concerto in two joined movements which can both be programmed individually that contains both many lyrical lines together with stunning virtuosic passages. An outstanding concerto that tuba players and brass band audiences alike will enjoy and applaud.

Was mir behagt ist nur die muntre Jagd BWV 208 Congratulatory Cantata for the Birthday of Duke Christian of Saxony-Weissenfels and of Duke Ernst August of Saxony-Weimar The hunting cantata the earliest secular cantata of Bach's which has come down to us was performed for the birthday of Duke Christian of Saxony-Weissenfels (23February) - according to most recent research very probably in the year 1713. It was later performed again for the birthday of Duke Ernst August of Saxony-Weimar (the co-regent of Duke Wilhelm Ernst). Bach's score employs taut musical forms; noteworthy - and entirely characteristic of Bach's early style - is the dominant role of the continuo in recitatives and arias. The setting is in chamnber music style. - Urtext of the New Bach Edition - Full score & performance material (BA10208) and vocal score (BA10208-90) available for sale

Eb Horn Solo-Aria was commissioned by and written for the remarkable tenor horn player Sheona White. The work opens with an accompanied recitative which leads to a change of key where the main melody is presented. This in turn serves as an introduction to another melodic idea marked calmato. The band takes up this theme and then takes centre stage with a passionate repeat of the main theme which is completed by the soloist. A cornet then plays the calmato theme against which the soloist plays a counter melody. This leads to a return of the opening recitative which brings the work to a peaceful close. A fantastic new addition to the solo repertoire for this much neglected soloinstrument.

Hob. I:91- This four-movement work with a slow introduction is Haydn ’s last symphony for ‘Small’ Orchestra i.e. without Trumpets and Timpani. However it has long passages for solo Violoncello and is also scored for two Bassoons. The editor of this edition recommends a performance with low Horns (additionally included in the wind set) to prevent the musical character of the Andante from being compromised by the predominantly high registers. Continuing the collaboration between Bärenreiter and the Henle publishing company in the areas of large choral works operas and symphonies this edition is appearing based on the Henle Complete Edition of theWorks of Joseph Haydn. The complete performance material for several of Haydn ’s Sturm und Drang symphonies and all the London and Paris symphonies has already been published. - Based on the Henle Complete Edition of the Works of Joseph Haydn. - Orchestral parts in a large format (25.5 × 32.5 cm). - Full score & performance material (BA10978) available for sale.

Symphonic Poem-The source of inspiration for this work was the play Das Käthchen von Heilbronn (Katie of Heilbronn) which was written by Heinrich von Kleist in 1810. The music evokes the underlying drama tensions and emotions of the characters involved: “The Blacksmith’s Daughter” “Kunigunde” “The Fire” and “The Emperor’s Daughter”. The title ‘Battle of Hearts’ refers to the two women from the story (Käthchen and Kunigunde) who both fight to win the heart of Count Von Strahl. This is an impressive non programmatic but strong thematic work suitable for concerts or contests. This work was commissioned by Bläserjugend Kreisverband Heilbronn.

The great Fantaisie Italienne is a piece composed by Eugène Bozza for Oboe and Piano. Quite difficult it requires some advanced skills to be executed perfectly. Starting Moderato it opens with a cadenza which includes some solo Oboe sections and continues with a short and lyrical melody. It closes on a nice rhythmic section in Allegro. Really nice to play and to listen to Fantaisie Italienne would make for a fantastic demonstration of your skills and technical abilities during a recital and a concert. Eugène Bozza won different prizes atthe Conservatoire de Paris such as the First Prizes for the Violin conducting and composition as well as the Grand Prix de Rome. He composed several operas chamber works and ballets among others.
