Setting Joseph Addison's text Jackson explores the use of vivid imagery the poem provides through this dramatic medium. Rather than using the full forces of choir brass and organ throughout the piece proceeds through varied antiphonal groupings accompanying typically imaginative choral writing.

The other smaller solo roles of Judas (Tenor) Pilate (Tenor) Jesus (Bass) and Pilate's wife (Alto) continue in the same vein with four-part choral interspersions from the crowds soldiers and priests providing acontrast in texture. The hymn 'When I survey the wondrous cross' set to the Rockingham hymn tune appears twice throughout the work and the congregation are encouraged to join in on both occasions. The simple organ part supports the voices for the hymn and may also optionally double the choir during the narrative.

for SATB soloists SATB chorus and orchestra Starting afresh from Mozart's incomplete autograph and an unfinished sketch Richard Maunder uses none of Sussmayer's contributions and reworks the orchestration throughout. The familiar Sussmayer Sanctus and Benedictus are included as an appendix. All material is also available on hire The Requiem was Mozart’s final composition. It was commissioned by the widow of the Countess von Walsegg who died in February 1791. After working on the Requiem through October and November however Mozart fell ill and died without completing it. Mozart's widow needing money asked Joseph Eybler to complete the work. Unfortunately he could not finish the work and it was handed over to Franz Xaver Sussmayr. However Sussmayr was a musician of limited capabilities and much of his contribution was in fact a copy of Eybler's work. This new edition of Mozart's Requiem starts afresh from Mozart's incomplete autograph and uses none of Eybler or Sussmayr'scontributions. The orchestration has been reworked throughout using parts of Die Zauberflote and La Clemenza di Tito as the chief models.

The unacquainted listener upon hearing a piece from the Hahn piano repertoire is often surprised by its powerful charm - a testament to the composer's unique musical sensibility. Although some of Hahn's musical ideas have roots in the long tradition of Romanticism they also present a host of new images scarcely seen in earlier scores Each piece in this collection is based on a single formula that varies little from start to finish. An exception to this unique principle occurs in the IInd piece where the young woman takes fright at the flaming red eye of the setting sun watching her through the branches. As a conclusion Reynaldo Hahn offers avery free cadence that takes up and comments on the initial theme: the crackling notes culminate in a fortissimo blaze rapidly followed by a progressive lull that slowly fades away.
