This suite by Georg Philipp Telemann has been selected from a set of six Partitas found in the Landesbibliothek at Darmstadt under the tilte La Petite Musique de Chambre (mus. 1032). The phrasing and marks of expression have been added by the editors together with some suggested speed indications for performance. No specific instrument is mentioned in the original; the style however seems particularlay suited to the trumpet and although some transposition has been necessary care has been taken to preserve this quality in the present edtion.Trumpet Piano. These sonatas are a compendium of violin playing of his time and laid the groundwork for future violin compositions. Over the years the sonatas have been published innearly 100 editions all based on Corelli's first edition which contains only the solo violin line above an unrealized bass line. Today the sonatas are well known in numerous modern continuo realizations. However a realization from Corelli's time by Antonio Tonelli also exists and is presented here for the first time in a modern performing edition. This realization is surprising in that it contains full chords sometimes played by both hands. In addition Bärenreiter's new scholarly-critical edition includes for the first time many violin embellishments. For the most part they have been found in handwritten documents by Tartini Geminiani McGibbon Dubourg and Roger (from a re-print of the sonatas from c. 1710). These embellishments are presented in a separate booklet which players can place alongside Corelli's original on the music stand. Complementing this Urtext edition are a historical introduction a critical commentary and an appendix containing preludes to the sonatas for keyboard by Tonelli.

Violin 1 Coro I- The Missa in F of 1734 for two or four choirs is probably Pergolesi ’s most important work for choir and orchestra. The nickname 'Missa Romana' was added later in reference to a performance given in Rome during Pergolesi ’s lifetime. This Urtext edition presents the work for the first time in the four-choir version that Pergolesi wrote for the above mentioned performance in Rome. Choirs III and IV are reproduced in smaller type and are added to the version for double choir in order to intensify the overall sound. This allows the work to be performed not only with two choirs but also in the delightful enlarged version for fourchoirs. Beethoven ’s fifth and final Piano Concerto is at the same time the culmination of his efforts in this genre and a reflection of all his artistic skill and expertise. The surviving manuscripts provide a clear insight into his working methods and his intentions regarding the work’s performance. The editor Jonathan Del Mar has closely scrutinised the autograph solo piano part and reproduced Beethoven’ssophisticated performance instructions for the first time in a modern edition. Among other things this has special repercussions for the left-hand figured bass line of the piano part during the tutti passages. As with the Piano Concertos Nos. 1 to 4 the Piano reduction appears with a separate solo part containing all the information needed by the soloist to conduct the ensemble from the Piano.

Motet for five-part mixed choir- All of Bach ’s six authenticated motets were written between 1723 and 1727 for St Thomas’ Church Leipzig where Bach was appointed as director of music in 1723. During this period Bach composed most of his cantatas and it seems likely that for ordinary Sunday services he used existing motets from the seventeenth century tradition reserving his own motet compositions for special occasions. Four of his six motets were written for the funeral services of prominent members of the St Thomas’ congregation. Jesu Meine Freude (BWV 227) the longest most musically complex and earliest of the six was written in 1723 for the funeralof Johanna Maria Käsin the wife of Leipzig’s postmaster. Salute tothe Victor was commissioned by Helen Alex and James Grieve for the Golden Kangaroos (Hornsby Concert Band) from Sydney Australia in memory of their parents Louise and Victor Grieve Founder and Director.

Lion City Festival was commissioned as one of the test pieces for the Singapore Youth Festival 2010 an annual event at which school ensembles from throughout Singapore can receive gold silver or bronze awards for their performance. The English name for Singapore comes from Malay Singapura which has Sanskrit roots meaning ‘Lion City’. Lion City Festival is in the form of a quick march in ABA form. An opening fanfare leads to a perky march tune which is taken up by the full band. A change of key heralds a legato trio section before the main theme returns in varied form. Roaring fun!
